Two thing I did: My grandparents had this little pedestal statue thing that had like a lot of critter motifs on it [like squirrels and rabbits]. Everytime we did a harvest of the garden I would take the biggest thing like a tomato and put on the pedestal for an offering as a thank you for the good harvest. I was convinced it was like this super important shrine or something and not just a garden decoration. Second me and my cousins would throw dirt clogs on the ground to find the really dry ones. If it was powder on the inside, the that was fairy dust and you could make a wish. And lastly; those plants that had the milky stuff inside were milkweeds @Fluke. I _think_ I have an explanation from my sleep-addled mind about the spinning thing. 1) It’s a compulsive behaviour, just based on how it functions. & 2) I theorise it has to do with directional permanence. What distinguishes those that can find something again or not is object permanence, and what distinguishes those that can navigate or not is directional permanence. When you’ve just moved around, you have an orientation that you can return to from a moment ago to experience a more certain or secure orientation. Even if you’ve twisted around a full 360 degrees, your brain isn’t sure that you’re looking at the same direction you were just looking. This helps people lost in a forest find their way out-or head deeper in the direction they were already going before spinning around. This “realignment” gives a sense of directionality. Reversing the spinning rights the mind’s logical sense of orientation. At least, that’s my theory. I’ve experienced a lot of this sort of behaviour in the past. I’ve asked a psychiatrist about it and it’s been explained off as typical compulsory behaviour that occurs in some people, especially when they’re younger. Since I’ve gotten older I’ve stopped these, and I think that as our brains develop better ways of navigating the world and our thoughts, many of these do tend to disappear. Doing double of something stops being necessary, or the desire to do the reverse of a previous action. That string metaphor is very useful for how to visualise this.

Super underrated comment!!! The closest thing to an explanation I’ve found is some Irish superstition about entering and exiting the same doors. Thank you for giving your shot at explaining it!

I know exactly what you mean with the strong thing! It’s hard to explain, but me and my friend both have it. I’m assuming that if an object goes under a couch one way, then it has to come back the same way too? I described it like the string, and my friend described it like infinitely spinning circles. I’m so glad to know that you have/had that too. I wonder what it is called

I remember I was very crafty as a child and would ask my parents for Lego sets for Christmas and when I get them, I wouldn't even build the set I would take the parts and build what I thought was cool. I remember making police cars and race cars out of the dump truck set. XD

I used to collect little crystals but they weren’t salt. They were quartz. It’s crazy how I found quartz as a Child. I kept most of those crystal bits and I love them. I was also given pyrite and I thought it was gold. When I was given it I yelled “IM RICHHHHH HAHAHAHAHA” they they pointed out it was fools gold and it was terrible. I still have those pyrite chunks to this day

I used to draw full, accurate drawings of the Titanic and other ships on multiple pieces of paper taped together at the age of 4 or 5. I was definitely an odd child.
