I'm 19 and just looking for a good start. Hope all goes well with you, God bless man 🙏 Edit: Patience is part of the progress. There's gonna be more bad days than good; but that's alright. You can't fall in despair, or else you're never gonna improve. Take your time, learn from your mistakes, help others when you can. The ones who follow the small steps in progress will be further ahead than the ones who want to do the fancy things head on. Get yourself a welder and start practicing, your never too old to learn and your never too young to teach 🙏

I started college at 16. Enrolled in the trade. I haven't looked back since. I have my AWS D1.1 6g pipe certification. I work the pipeline. Come to find out, a pipe job is harder to get than a lot of welding jobs. Found that out the hard way, but unfortunately the only way. Unless you are lucky to know someone personally. But once you got your foot in the door, it becomes easier. Somewhat.

It depends where youre trying to work your weld credentials and then the person hirin you. Pipe is notorious for bein harder to weld with way tighter specifications and restrictions so its no surprise they want the best of the best! Ever seen a high pressure pipe explode on a pipeline!? If not good you dont ever want to 😅😅

Wear your jacket or at least long sleeve. In the first few years, I welded in just a t shirt and gloves also. The skin that was exposed is completely doffwnt now. Leathery and almost permanently darker. I'm going to have it looked at as I'm noticing small bumps and dark spots. Hoping its not skin cancer.

I’ve been welding steel and aluminum mostly aluminum for 43 years i’ve crawled around everything you can imagine i’ve built aluminum Ridgid hull inflatable‘s for the last 23 years 3/16 plate to 3/4 of an inch I am trust me aluminum it’s a much better to career to get involved in but remember always work union because I didn’t and I’ve lost a lot of money along the way but if you want to make some good coin be an auto mechanic right now my knees are shot my My shoulders are shot from overhead welding for years oh and my back is done it’s an OK job but an auto mechanic will save all your bones have a good day😊
