The exact opposite for us, my husband has always put our kids first. It's been a huge struggle for me and no matter how much I try, I feel this marriage will be over when the kids move out. But even now, he's doing his hardest to keep them here as long as he can so they may never move out with his bribing to stay at home.

This is weird. I was married for 27 years. I always thought and felt the children came first. She felt the same. I feel that a parent feeling this way points to a problem with the parent. If the house is burning down. I carry out the children first. She should be helping out if possible. After kids are safe. Then it's, wait here kids got get you mom out now. Ha ha, talk to your husband as you would talk to Jesus.l? I can hear all woman scoff in unison at that one.That never happens.

I'll come back to this. Children come first. And it's should and unspoken truth. If this question is raised something is wrong with whoever did. You don't have to worry about that ruining g your marriage thatvpwrson is destined to ruin already. They will find another and more things to critique and blame for their own problems and shortcoming. Hmmm, I was married for 27 years. No one wants to hear this: but you ALWAYS PUT YOUR PARTNER FIRST. How do you teach your kids to be in a healthy relationship if you don’t show them. Trust me me when you put your spouse first you will have a partner that is also there for the kids. This is so obvious I can’t believe it’s a topic. Kids are a responsibility but your relationship is your number one priority. If not ladies they will divorce you. Cause you give them no attention. They will find someone who does. Only when you join the single mothers club, now trying to pay for everything on one income, relying on family and friends to fill the void you gave no value too, will you realize the importance of your spouse. Kids are gone before they actually leave. Teenagers don’t want to spend time with you and after 12 years of your non compromising ways, control, and ignoring your spouse you will have a terrible relationship left to repair.

Oh well wife put Jesus first which is fine but Jesus is first in everything he’s her IDOL and I’m her HUSBAND ICON just for her to tell everyone we’ve been married 40 yrs otherwise I’m invisible to her if I don’t go with the program I’m leaving soon

A prophet lacks honor in his own home. Wirds of Christ to His hometown that might as well apply to modern marriage... and pastors almost unanimously encourage it. Rare to never does a pastor talk about the faults of women... especially wives. Constant the reminder that wifes are "the better half". THEIR words as I have heard this from many over 47 years. When not being overheard by clergy, simps, white knights, sycophants and women; you would be surprised how disgusted TRUE Christian men are with the modern Church and most (not all) Christian women. One line about attending Church, sort of. An entire passage rooted in Genesis 1-3 of deep theology about headcovering. Oh the pastors quote not despising the Church, forgetting how Christ spoke of Laodicea. But do they remind women they're in open rebellion by not covering their heads? Do they ever preach 1PETER 3: 1-6 without twisting and apologizing for what the verses CLEARLY teach? This doesn't apply to all women or all churches but.... exceptions prove the rule.

You bring up a good point. The vast majority of people put children first and of course that's led to the high divorce rates. There's no family without the parents at the top.

I think everyone should be cared for equally in the home, marriage and life . Yes your kids are important but nobody in the family takes priority over another except in certain circumstances . My soon to be ex wife is filing for divorce because I’m clashing with her lazy , disobedient 16 year old son that thinks adults are a joke. He sells drugs in the house , uses the drugs in the house and invites his friends and kids in the neighborhood to come into our house and use the drugs . She refuses to stop him . Along with that my money I contribute toward the household bills and work my butt off and he sits home everyday using drugs , refuses to go to school and refuses to work . Now she kicked me out because she says she chooses her kids over any man. Now she’s struggling to pay her bills , he controls her and I’m sure he beats her while I’m not there all because she lets him do what he wants . The kids come first ? Always ? I beg to differ on that . In my situation I get 0 respect and I’m her husband. So men are nothing ?

Brother, there are few good men who still make this mistake, and even fewer women who acknowledge them. I'd recommend looking for your own, not another man's woman. She'll understand (too late) that you were the real man, but you won't be there for her. Escape for your soul, brother!
