I’m from Uganda, we operate the same way in terms of marriage and handing over your daughter in exchange for money, cows, gold etc. It is not an insult or a scam it is literally the culture. I think it is a common African culture to pat dowery/brideprice. In Nigeria we do get a list of what to buy, depending on the region it could be way more or less than £1,000. The bride price for a Nigerian lady round the country is using the current exchange rate no more than £2. Yes £2 as their families will tell you their daughters aren’t for sale. It’s just done to honor tradition and honestly it’s quite fun.

Samuel you need to learn how to cook. Just start of roasting a whole chicken one month and then the following month boil rice and peas. And of course Amanda you will need to direct him because after no one knows what's around the corner. Regards to the bride price - I don't get it - all in the West don't get it that aren't from a culture that practices taking money to handover their daughter in marriage.
