I'm very glad that you included your wife in a video on the channel. There are some things like seatbelts and comfort with steering wheels that are different for most females than they are for most males. Also, I've found that spatial abilities tend to be different between females and males. I've noticed most females think their vehicles are "fatter" (AKA wider) than they are and that most males think their vehicles are "skinnier" (AKA narrower) than they are. Here's a Wikipedia page on it if you want to read more about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spatial_ability P.S. Spatial abilities also affect how someone handles things like car crashes. It will be interesting to see just how many females versus males are accepted in the beta and how many of each gender stay in it over the course of a year.

Well that was fun. I enjoyed the banter and Amber had a couple of phrases I enjoyed (I'm picking up what you're laying down). I haven't driven with the yoke but agree with what Amber was trying to articulate. There's a certainty on a round steering wheel that part of the wheel will be in the location you grab at any time. The discontinuous shape with the yoke could cause you to have to search for it. In unexpected situations the certainty of a round wheel would be safer. All that said, you guys correctly noted the yoke has a wow factor, an edge, that many Tesla drivers enjoy. Overall this was a fun video.

15:43 You said you were hungry and going to Subway but you just passed the Subway 😂. A particular Subway? Nice video. I watched all three of your videos and decided the yoke would work for me. I drove a friends that had a yoke and found it easier to turn by underhanding the bottom horizontal bars, using the thumb to "push" while the hand lifts. So, for example, turning right, you'd put your left hand under the left bottom side, with thumb on inside corner and use hand to "lift" & swing on left side. LIke driving at 8 and 4 position. And vice versa for turning left.

You can "get used to" yokes, but it isn't a better driving experience. You can get used to people sticking needles in your arm everyday too. I had a D shaped steering wheel on my one race car, and even that was super annoying and arguably unsafe on the street. Even Elon has said that the only advantage is dashboard visibility. People say Tesla doesn’t do marketing, but the yoke wheel is marketing - it's just making people talk about Tesla. This is not a feature improvement. * yes I understand this is an aftermarket wheel on a Model Y
@vaimagen3 жыл бұрын
Your car looks awesome with the yoke it looks like a future flight Deck car with wings ready for TO haha although; I think safety is paramount it should be designed in a way you can grab a button and move the yoke around with it one hand ops 360 d easy also a way of a hand mold in the yoke so you won't make your hand slip off the yoke I love it to have it but seen your video how the hands lock in the yoke is a bit uncomfortable twisted in a cross perhaps what you said about turning with a yoke is rigged so turn ratio is difference to avoid slip off the yoke Not for M3 In electronics all is posible like flip a deep switch will be easy right!!!

(a) In your dreams! (b) Makes it more challenging: instead of nominally keeping control by letting the wheel slide back and forth as the autopilot makes turns, you must either keep a hand on the wheel even when it’s 180 degrees offcentre or make a grab for it and hope you can find it fast enough when faced with imminent collision. Either way is a recipe for a heart attack.
