About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday we are able to transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

I grew up in a household where academic success was the priority and I wasn't taught any "useful" life skills. After becoming a homeowner I discovered that I'd better become handy very quickly if I didn't want to spend loads of money to repair every single thing that broke, but fortunately it turns out you can learn how to do pretty much anything through KZbin!

One time my boyfriend and I split up so I decided to drive to my sister's in Birmingham from Titus Alabama at 11pm. Well my transmission went out while I was going 75 mph... I ended up running off into the center ditch... my cell didn't have service there and I was stuck. Around 2 am a cop pulled up and thought I was dead. I was sleeping lol well he let me use his phone but the only person who answered was my boyfriend! 😅 Well he came and rescued me and now we've been married for 8 years 🤣❤

Especially with car recovery. It is a difficult, complicated practice with some dangerous and ill-advised techniques. I know people who have been doing recovery for years who are doing it with under-rated snatch straps or trying to use their JACKET in place of a weighted damper. It often requires expertise, heavy equipment, and teamwork. Nothing wrong with needing help.

So glad to hear your wife is okay and there was no damage to her car. Coming from Minnesota, early spring snow storms are sometimes more treacherous than the winter snow storms; wetter heavier snow. I think the dog stands guard for two reasons: one the cat has claws and a dog does not want to be clawed in his nose, so the cat eats first, and so that no other animal comes to eat their food. Absolutely love your videos. My daughter and I wish we could afford to have a farm, so we love your videos.

I'm a girl who grew up in a city, but dad took the whole family of females camping for every vacation so we did camping under the stars, in tents, rarely in a cabin, we always fished, sometimes in small boats, hiked and I went backpacking with him when I was about 13 just the two of us and camping again when I was in college. I studied academic stuff, but he taught me how to split logs, and I took woodshop and metal shop in high school. Still kicking myself for not taking auto shop. They don't even offer that stuff when my kids were in school. Too bad I married a guy who refused to camp. As my kids got older I got them both involved in activities where they COULD go camping, youth group for one and Scouts for the other one. Scouts let ME go with them on trips so I was able to re-ignite my love of the outdoors. I'd probably be a lot less helpless if I'd had a supportive spouse.

Hey Morgan, I started raising ducks last year while launching my own channel. Very inspired by you and your channel. Last fall I built them a custom ultimate duck house. I also built the house with a screened floor area for the water. After a while all the straw on the floor of the duck house was soaked and I then decided NOT to keep food or water inside the duck house. When they're young though thats a different story, but adult ducks do just fine. I do have a different setup than you though cause I built them a 30 foot run and keep the small door from the house to the run open all the time. Food and water is readily available if they need it. In winter I had to give them fresh water twice a day cause it would freeze after a few hours. My ducks are loving life in their new house and the 10 hens are giving me 8-10 eggs everyday. Have a great day, Chad.

The DVDA "Now You're a Man" made me whole morning, Morgan LMAO Took me back! Glad to hear everybody is okay after the car mishap! And I'm so glad you knew where to chain to! I said "OH NO" out loud when you mentioned hooking to the bumper, but you got me!

As you live in a rural area as a farmer may I recommend putting together a vehicle rescue kit? Couple of soft shackles, couple of standard shackles, chain and/or tow straps of appropriate weight rating. You’ve got a 4x4 which is often plenty but maybe even consider a winch mod for the truck? Something to kit with the truck. Just a suggestion. Love your content and Good Job!!!

First, I’m so glad that Alison is ok! You can’t say your Incompetent if you’ve just simply never had the experience before. Everything is learned ......Being competent or successful is getting something done weather you do it yourself or you find other channels or methods to get the job done for you 😉 ✅

I'm a girl raised by a single mom, she taught us everything, she did everything. Because she had to, and she didn't trust men. . She reroofed her house when she was 75, because she didnt trust men. She has found ways to do so many things because she had to. Good thing she wasn't worried about being a manly man..

Dude - it’s all good. Everyone has to learn somewhere. Not everyone has the same life experience at the same stage. Never be ashamed of who you are - it’s all a learning process. You’ve learnt so much, and so has Alison. You’ll get there xx

You don't become a farmer of all skills in 4 years. Look at all you've built, all the animals you've come to master, and the humble realization that you'll never be done learning. Your calm and patience will see you through any future farm crisis. 🐔😸👍

Not being raised with a skill isn't really incompetence in my eyes. Incompetence is being taught and still getting it wrong. Figuring out how to fix things is part of life. I'm personally very fond of silver-tape... To the point, my family quickly adds "tape can't fix it" when asking for help.

First I am happy to know your dear wife wasn't hurt and that you were able to rescue her. So these are my thoughts about what you shared about yourself. Any incompetence you may have felt about yourself, is just over throne by your humility and transparency. I so appreciate that about you! The fact that you research ask and take advice on your new endeavors...is commendable. Sir your proficiency are apparent to your viewers. 😊👍

Thanks for sharing this. Last night we had an accident that caused several rooms in our house to be flooded. It's going to cost a ton of money to fix and we have to stay somewhere else. Your video was a comfort, both for the story and to see you doing your rounds. It's a little bit like being home without being home right now, and I appreciate it a lot.

Congratulations on your confidence builder! During the blizzard of ‘78 I spun around and slid off the interstate with a soft landing in the snow. Sort of a FWUMP. Once I knew I wasn’t going to hit anyone else it was kind of fun. Just like Alison, I was pulled out of the snow and back on my way in no time. Interesting memory.
