I don’t think I’ve ever completes a major project and not had extra hardware leftover. 🤣 It was cool to see you do this job. My Dad recently experienced DOD failure on his suburban at only 100k. I tried to get him to just do a delete kit but he ended up just getting a crate engine cause at the end of the day with the labor rates if your not doing the delete yourself the engine replacement ends up being around the same money if not cheaper but you take that gamble of it happening again.

You should have washed it before disassembly. I cannot believe you didn’t. It’s not only dirty with crap in the air that gets in your eyes and nose, it’s terrible protocol. It subjects disassembled parts to degradation caused by exposure to foreign impurities. A clean project is aesthetically more pleasing. But your knowledge of this project as you investigated is impressive. You are the real McCoy.

My mechanic buddy rebuilt the top end with aftermarket springs and lifters, turned off the cylinders on demand option and she has been better than stock since. It's now at 175,000 miles and not an issue.

Easy way to get the air pockets out, raise the front of the vehicle up(either on the rack or drive up on ramps) raised at least 12 inches, take the cap off of the coolant jug then start the engine. The air pockets will escape quicker.
@hughobrien41397 ай бұрын
Antifreeze and belts= squeaky belt. I’ve used a bar of soap to rub on the belt. Just hold the bar of soap up against the belt sometimes both sides of the belt. Generally it will clear the noise up. In some cases I’ve used Indian Head shellack on belts. If that doesn’t stop the noise nothing else will other than a new belt.
