@@ellissmithjr6599 I thought the same thing but there is (or atleast was) a canon mini series only like 50 min long that explained everything. Just until a few days before he woke up there was a "crazy" nurse in the hospital that cared for the remaining patients and kept them in "good" condition until the guy that put the signs on the door showed up with his girlfriend and she tried to kill both. if you search for the walking dead all web series you might still find it. there is also one with the backstore of the bike zombie girl.

@@PhilipManzano I know you guys are careering off of this but I'd say it's really good but it starts to drag on for a long time. You'll essentially know when you're dragging your feet but until then the journey is great. They just took over 10 years to make this so the writing and such really changes after so much after some time. Hope you don't feel that way and can get what you need out of it for the channel and yourselves, but even if you did cut TWD in half you'd be spending well over a year reacting to it on here haha

This show really sets itself up as a different type of zombie show right from episode one. The first zombie you see is a child, and when rick is leaving the hospital the whole time you're waiting for a jump scare because that's what zombie movies and shows typically are. This show really is more drama and suspense rather than action and shock horror, i think that's why it became such a hit.

I had coworkers urging me to watch. I wasn't interested in Zombie shows. One day flipping channels I found the first episode by accident. Not seeing the name of the show yet as the 1st few scenes played and I was hooked. 🤣 On a side note: leave your loved one a change of clothes in the hospital. poor Rick, lol

Not a spoiler cuz not in the show...the reason rick survived in the hospital after it started, there is a web series that explains a nurse that stayed at the hospital after it started and took care of him until she died, he still was safe after cuz there was a bed blocking the door.

Fun fact on a somewhat related note: Even though he is credited with developing/creating the modern zombie archetype, George A. Romero never thought of the infected in his "Dead" series (Night of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and Land of the Dead) as zombies; he has said he was originally intending them to be ghouls, because at that time ghouls were loosely considered "spirits of the dead that stalk graveyards and consume the living". Hence, why Night of the Living Dead starts in a graveyard.

If you like a Series with Lots and lots of Content, this is THE one to watch. 11 seasons, 6 Spin Offs, several Video Games, Novels, all based on a 193 Issue Comic Series. This is MY POISON right here. My all time favorite. Amazing acting moments. Storytelling some shows are scared to do. Never taken seriously at the Emmy Awards. And Lots and Lots of Characters. Fun Theory Fact: its Either rick was in a Coma after all of this happening in his Head, speculated fans say, likely he is dreaming ALL OF THIS in his head and that life is still normal out there with no Walkers and society not collapsing. This is still not confirmed to anyone since Rick was not in a Coma and that he was in the Hospital for 2 Months, and 59 Days. Fans also say that he might be Hallucinating all of this in his head, as he is awake and that he is dreaming that these people are Walkers. But in the true world everyone is Normal and Human civilization still goes on. Oh yeah and for the Army helicopter. i dont know if he was hallucinating. because the group he meets tell him they didnt hear a helicopter (oh yeah theres also a lil blooper, which i dont think you can see, when Rick encounters the Horde, you can see someone in the very back drinking their water bottle if you find it on a TWD Blooper scenes)

Dont know if you guys have seen them yet, but there are these webisodes on KZbin that cover background stories that the show ended up not covering during the official episodes. There are ones for the half of a walker next to the bike, and to explain how Rick lasted so long in the hospital.

Super excited for you to react to this show! Had to become a Patron just for this lol One of the best shows ever imo. And the 3 most recent spin-offs have been awesome as well. You guys seem observant and nice, I really hope you continue watching this! Timeline: Rick wakes up Day 59 of the apocalypse. So it’s been about 2 months since he was shot and since the virus really took over. He gets to Atlanta the next day. People were definitely wrong about it not being gorey, but I think people are quick to dismiss it because the horror and violence of the show isn’t as important as the aspect of human nature and society, as Phil said. Couple things - In this universe, the concept of zombies and zombie media doesn’t exist. So for Rick seeing someone stumble around at first, doesn’t automatically signal zombie. Or walker, the dead, etc as they call them here. They’ll never use the word zombie. - When Rick left his hospital room, he had to move a hospital bed out the way that was blocking his door. Seems pretty logical to me that a walker probably had easier targets than someone blocked by 2 obstacles, not making any noise as well. And his section in the hospital seemed cleared out and blocked off by those doors that were chained. It was definitely luck but not totally unbelievable. - Season 1 of the show was a weird time because they had a different show runner and also weren’t totally sure if they’d get more seasons. So the rules of the walkers and their intelligence and capabilities is pretty different from the rest of the show. I wouldn’t get caught up in questioning the walkers because they’re smarter in this first season than they will be in the future. And yes they’re in Georgia! Which I love because the south is not an area that gets a lot of exposure in Sci-fi media I feel. And I love the accents lol

At this point of the show the walkers are more like “smart” and they look like just people because they just became a walker, the apocalypse just started so that’s why. Also when Rick was shot he was in coma for almost 4 weeks so in those 4 weeks all this happened That’s why he didn’t know anything about the walkers and all that

Neither of them are close to top 2, especially TWD….a show with over 100 plus episodes and not a single Emmy…sad. The show is too long and the quality drops each season after the first 3-4 seasons. By recent times the best shows are Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Succession, The Bear, Dark, The Leftovers, Hannibal, The Boys, Chernobyl, Shogun, Barry, Ted Lasso, Invincible, TLOU, Severance, Arcane, Ozark, etc.
