My old home town. Sitting outside St Mary's church looking at the historical section of Calne. Behind the almshouses is the green, surrounded by the old wool mill and original Fynamore school building. On the other side of the church is a house where the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived during the late 18th century. The graveyard for the church hosts a couple of people of note, Jan Ingenhousz who discovered photosynthesis and also the resting place of Inverto Boswell the so-called King of the Gypsies. There used to be a large meat processing company called Harris' which dated back to the late 18th century and took up a large footprint in the centre of the town directly opposite the town hall where this video started. It was demolished in the 1980s and caused quite a bit of unemployment. So glad you made a video in Calne after visiting Cherhill and Hilmarton. Thanks!

Another fine video and the musical background was great, not intrusive and rather appropriate. I also looked again at the church spires on the church behind you, very interesting. Something you don't see much are the antennas on some of the houses, it's like they are copying the church. Gabriel seems to be a very interesting person, I'll have to check out some of his videos. Stay well Richard and Gabriel!

Richard, If you make a good sticky toffee pudding I would keep it a secret from Glastonbury Gabriel. The marriage would never work:) Having said that Gabriel did say some very wise things and I will now have to go and check his channel out. Sandy

So enjoyable! I loved the gentle interview and the stunning local architecture. What a find! Slightly puzzled as to why Gabriel chooses to use an oversized shaving brush for a microphone. I wonder how many Badgers went into it's making. Clearly WW1 was not good for the Angel family of Calne ...

Ah, the wonders of the unsung English market town. Gabriel seems like a bit of a character, I bet he's got some interesting stories.
