Densum Ranger great for just sitting on if your not ready for your sleeping bag, very cheap too if ordering from China. Roll on Saturday mate, really looking forward to it atb Mark

As I said on Facebook Mark the heat combo for your mat is a nice one. Must make you feel very on top of the elements. All the best. Mark.
@markoutinthewild94817 жыл бұрын
Wye Explorer yeah it does feel good lying in the snow with the door open knowing your going to be warm, it's not the dearest in mats but not the cheapest too, I got it because it gets used for high mountain expeditions and in the Arctic, I know a lot like the £160 mats and probably think there's is a lot better which is fine but it's far from the truth lol. Thanks for watching atb Mark

@markoutinthewild94817 жыл бұрын
THE BUSPASSCAMPER yeah your right George, that stuff could kill you in your sleep if you ain't careful, it's maybe a bit overkill as the yellow mat works well on its own but I like the idea of being able to lie next to my bed or sitting with my feet out the door keeping the loft in my sleeping bag, summit camps a bit different, I'd only take the 1 up there just to keep the grams down. atb Mark

Good one Mark but -60c for a mat , don't trust specs lol. 2 sleeping bags no wonder you never want to get out your tent in the morning ! Gear seems fine if it does the job you want then thats it. Got a silver mat thing everyone saying its great. p.s. like the logo and music
@markoutinthewild94817 жыл бұрын
+Scots Wildcamper yeah it's meant for lying on the snow without a groundsheet in the Arctic or up Everest, not that it'll ever get that cold here but as you say, as long as it works, only started taking the Naturehike bag, I don't go in it just lie on top of it and it warms up faster. Yeah they ate good them foil blankets, Derek's ordered one too and for their weight it's worth carrying, don't put it in your bag tho, takes up to much space. Yeah I thought that music went well for a start and finish, think I'll keep using it atb Mark

Hi Mark, just watched a couple of your vids, very good. I am looking at getting a new tent, could you tell me please is yours the Robens Raptor, it keeps rising to the top of my list...How would you rate it after having had some use? All the best...Gav
@markoutinthewild94816 жыл бұрын
Hi Gav, yeah the tents good, it is big tho but for the size of it it's pretty lite. Only thing I don't like about that shape of tent is when in high winds the sides will hit your head, but I think pretty much all tents that shape will do that, you just curl up to stop it tho so it's not a biggy. Unfortunately mine has a couple of faults but Robens are sending me a new flysheet so you've got that peace of mind if it does have or develop a fault, guess that's what you pay for tho. If you look about you might be lucky to get a good deal on it. I do like it myself, it's a strong tent but it's big for one man 👍
@gavexplorer6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply, I do like a bit of room in a tent or I can feel a bit confined to say the least, it has been known, quite regularly in fact, for me to have to get out quick in the night in a bit of a panic ! calm down for 5 then get back in..... but then mostly I am fine!...you are a lot more experienced in wild camping than me, are there any other tents you would say i take a look at? want something that is fairly solid in bad conditions...I had also looked at the exped orion 2 extreme, dont know if you know it?...cheers

Hello Mark, Nice setup. May be I'm asking you this question too late. I'm actually trying to decide between two tents - "Roben's Raptor"(same model as yours) and the "Terra Nova Pioneer 2". I will be using it for bike tours and hiking trips both. Pioneer 2 is smaller and is about 2kg in weight which is why i like, but I like the stabler 3 pole design of raptor. I also like the large apses in Raptor, could be useful during heavy rain. I'm from Denmark, where it's always raining in Spring and autumn and has high winds. I will also be using the raptor in Iceland in a year or so. despite the flapping of Pioneer 2, it also seems to hold fairly well in strong winds. But what do you think of the Raptor tent in terms of weight and space for one person, specially for hiking ?
