I've figured something out about woodland... I love being in the woods. Its right up there on my "happy place list".... I think I get frustrated that my images never seem to reflect how I feel and then ultimately what I see in the woods. I still have great time failing because I love the location. The tip about not stressing about it speaks volumes to me 🙂

Woodland photography is such a difficult genre to get right, I've walked around Manwood Woods for hours looking for compositions & I know one / some are there I just haven't managed to find it yet!

It’s certainly not easy mate but that makes it more rewarding? I hope the video was kind of useful? It maybe Manwood Woods is not that photogenic. I’ll give you a shout next time I go out

Very nice video, great to have you on the podcast. Some very useful tips, biggest issue I find with woodland is often light, especially on a bright day like you had here.

Yeah it’s ok when it’s soft or, as you say, shoot into it but it was too harsh here in all honesty. Thanks for watching and for inviting me on. Look after that Yorkshireman tomorrow 😂

If you are ever back in Devon, a similar woodland to wistmans woods, but smaller is Black a Tor copse. It's a bit of a trek from the car park at Meldon Reservoir and because of that it doesn't get the huge amount of visitors as Wistmans woods that is just a stones throw from the car park.

Thanks Carl, might be getting back there next year.

I struggle with woodland photography when there's no mist as I find the scenes too busy. It definitely needs experience to capture a scene when the mist is not there. You showed that in your vlog. I much prefer Lone Tree's 😂 that said, I'm determined to get out as much as possible this Autumn and try to train my eye
@davepeckphotography2 ай бұрын
It’s just practice and looking to see what attracts you I think. Not an easy genre though
