Jamie you are very resourceful! So proud of you. You sustain in winter in Montana. Pretty much anything in SE Asia go a lot further. Yea you can spend $40 on making a profile on Hollywood casting websites, or Workaway lol So Workaway heals breakup too. "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." So much teasing on your next travel job you mentioned. Can't wait to hear!

Haven’t done housesitting long term but it’s a great idea !!! Especially if you want to travel or live in different places and save money on rent. Go to house sitting search and you see all the house sitting opportunities on different sites. On Mind My House you can sign up for an email alert in a certain region. There are definitely options for workaway & house sitting in Florida !! Go for it !

Wow, that sounds really cool! Workaway sounds really incredible, and I like how there are many great opportunities to work abroad for a period of time. I've been considering moving on from my full time job I have now to do something which allows me to travel even more as traveling to new, exciting places is what makes me the happiest. I'll have to keep this idea in mind for sure! I've been wondering why you moved out to Montana last year, and it is cool to find out why. I remember you told me when I saw you in SF last year that you were looking to move away from the Bay Area due to high costs. I'll be curious to see where you go next as well as hearing more details about where you are working now (although I think you may have told me already). Anyway, I hope you keep on traveling and keep doing what makes you happy! Hopefully I will get to meet up with you again soon!

Hi Jamie! I'm writing to you because I would like to workaway so badly, but recently I heard from a bunch of people, that you have to have a work permit in the country. What's your experience? Thank for sharing your story! It is a great help!
@JamieBanksTravel5 жыл бұрын
Hey Emeli! It depends on the country and also your host. I would email the host you are interested in and see what they say. Sometimes people do it kind of under the table and sometimes it’s not necessary at all.. where are you thinking? :)

So you just have to pay for your flight?
@LewseeAhh4 жыл бұрын
And you work in exchange for accommodations?
@JamieBanksTravel4 жыл бұрын
Yep worked in exchange for accommodation & breakfast... it depends on the “host” but some will even offer 3 meals a day. You can pay for your flight, bus, car etc then it’s pretty cheap when you are there :)

Jamie Banks im a videographer and this is definitely something I’d like to try even if it’s to just another state or country near by.
@JamieBanksTravel4 жыл бұрын
You totally should! There are lots of workaway opportunities in the US! Not sure where you are from but I’m sure there are some in your country :)

Jamie Banks I’m from California. It would be cool to be a host as well to meet people from all over but I would only be able to offer the sofa as bedding haha which is a no-go 😂

Is it a one time fee?
@JamieBanksTravel4 жыл бұрын
It’s an annual fee.. but hopefully can get you lots of opportunities!
@tajbajwa49494 жыл бұрын
Is it trustworthy
@JamieBanksTravel4 жыл бұрын
I would read the reviews about a host first. And then have a video chat with them before going. I wouldn’t go to a place with bad reviews.

Hi Jamie! I just have two questions about how you planned your trip. I am looking to go way for about a year just travelling, to roughly 10 countries. Do you recommend to plan flights ahead or do a ‘pay as you go’ for flights from each country? My next question is, do you recommend to try and find hosts beforehand, or while traveling?
@JamieBanksTravel5 жыл бұрын
Hi!! How exciting !!! Hmm you may like a certain place more than you expect and want to stay longer than planned. For this reason you might wanna just go with the flow rather than planning all 10 destinations.. plus you don’t want to commit and cancel- it could affect your workaway rating. But you could always line up the first and communicate with others and decide where you want to go next. Unless you know you for sure want to go to all 10 of those places and the order you might wanna wait on some of the flights. Are the 10 countries nearby where you can take a bus or is a flight needed for each? Also don’t forget to look into a visa depending on how long you go and where!!
@JamieBanksTravel5 жыл бұрын
For flights look at sky scanner and you can search “everywhere” as the destination and cheapest month :)
@izenemayers18765 жыл бұрын
Jamie Banks Thank you for the reply, that was really helpful! All the countries are somewhat neighbours, some require planes, some I can get a coach or a train. I do have a list of the countries that do need visas that I’m 100% that I want to go to, so for those I can always plan ahead. But I think you’re right, I think I’m just going to go with the flow 😊
