Many people desire to travel but think that it is too expensive, and therefore completely unattainable to them. But the good news is there are inexpensive ways to travel on a budget, where we can still expand our minds, travel sustainably and give back to the communities we pass through. Today I'm really excited to introduce you to my friend Melica who is going to share a handful of websites she uses to travel on a budget and give back to the community.

Hostel Cat in Las Vegas lets you stay long-term for cheap in exchange for doing work for them (cleaning rooms, handling the front desk, etc). I met some people doing it when I stayed there for a few days; seemed like a nice deal.

Volunteer is okay in many aspects, I just don't like that kind of "volunteering" practiced by some scam companies that ask people to pay for a monthly fee to pay for stuff while they're working there. That should be illegal and passive of denouncing to authorities. Volunteering is not exploiting.
@FeelingShred
@FeelingShred 3 жыл бұрын
Worldpackers seem to have problems with Host Ratings, I heard there's no way to see if a host is good or not in advance. Workaway is more open and transparent in that aspect. So many problems with dysfunctional hosts that see volunteers as a cheap source of labor to exploit and not even help with food in return. And it's a shame that platforms allow these behaviors.

@@mimi1o8 2 apples, 1 lemon or lime and 1 yam piece the size of an apple.. you blended all with 4 glasses of water. Drink half of glass in the morning, afternoon and early evening. It is good for many things. Do a research in yams, you will see how amazing it is. God bless .

Sorry to be a buzz kill here but please don't do this solely as a way to travel. I work with an organisation that has received overseas volunteers through this method. It can be a horrible experience and a waste of other people's time and resources. People expect workers or people willing to trade knowledge and can get partiers instead. Our farmers were sometimes calling people away from the beaches or concerts to fulfill their end of the deal. It may seem like a cheap way to get a room but remember people's livelihoods depend on your efforts and your idea of of a day's manual work may not coincide with that of the host's. Get a hostel or something instead. Is couch surfing still a thing? There are other cheap ways to see the world.

I've used these sites and some places accept families, some places even say "only accepting families right now." The website usually let you search without paying for an account, the only thing withheld is the contact info! So you can try and search to see what's out there for free!

Really very bad pages. It's for begginers Is necesary pay a membership. None of them sponsor visas so of course the volunteer is ilegal if there is any problem has no rights. They are not responsable if the host expect the volunteer work more hours None of them sign a contract so the volunteer has not oppotunity to claim I think the volunteering is not work for free therefore i am not agree with these slave pages
