The worst thing ever written was a story I wrote using Chat GPT where Harry Potter makes Ron a disgusting sweet and sour dish. Ron complains about it so much everyone calls him Sour Ron. He uses magic to try get rid of the horrible taste in his mouth and accidentally transports himself to Middle Earth. The locals ask him his name and he says Sour Ron since everyone calls him that. The locals mistake it as Sauron. They start to fear him because he builds a magic portkey ring to get himself back to Hogwarts but it doesnt work and he turns into a giant flaming eye.

My last book of 2023 was Central Places by Delia Cai also because it’s about a girl going back to central Illinois for the holidays and I recently moved to central Illinois and thought oh wow this is me. It wasnt nearly as bad as you described Every Summer After, but it was just so odd. *spoilers* the main character leaves her fiancé that she had a great relationship with and randomly starts deteriorating when they get to her hometown… and he also completely changes and I think it was just poor writing not the location change… but anyways she leaves him to be with her high school not even boyfriend but crush… just so odd.

Slowly getting back to reading at least one book per year (used to read a lot but school and life made me busy + usually the books I wanna read come late to my country so yeah, but I'm slowly getting back into it tho) and I refuse to read most of the hyped booktok authors/books (rwrb was exception bc it was perfect to ease my stressed brain and I read it during the holidays, also having couple of lgbt books (which are quote popular on booktok) on my tbr) and I wheezed when I checked out some upcoming 2024 books and Ali Hazelwood is coming back again with a book with a vampire main character and an ALPHA MALE. A were alpha male. I propably won't read her works ever but geez this woman seems to write in a speed of light bc she almost constantly publishes new books left and right. Your ranting once again was glorious and I had a great time listening it. Thank you Emma and happy new year!

In the House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt omg I had to DNF it because the main character refers to her husband as "My man" every few seconds (counted 5 times on one page) and it was so aggravating that I could not take it anymore. Hilarious! I didn't read much because I had state exams but I still managed 8. The worst for me was Hunting Adeline. I decided to try this genre because everyone is hyping it. And after this book I don't think I can ever trust another 18+ romance book. This was just so bad. I am shocked someone read the plot and said " yes, we are printing it". And considering 80% of bookstagrammers think it's 5/5 I am NEVER picking another hyped book. I will stick to thrillers and classics

The reason for the next 3 books in the shatter me series was 100 percent monetary. If I recall correctly Tehereh Mafi wanted to only write the first three books and the publishing company was like actually do three more or we will drop you. I could be wrong about this as well but, theres a big gap in publishing between the first three and the last three as well.
