Those imperfections on the Gold Metallic shoes are not noticeable from a distance. You can probably still wear them. Shared you out.

Hi Kelly! I bought a cobalt blue Continental zippy wallet from Saint Laurent with that same type of grained leather 4 or 5 years ago. I used it everyday for more than a year and never had an issue with it. It still looks brand new to this day! It's painful to see what happened to your wallet and that Saint Laurent couldn't do anything about it. You might want to inquire with a leathercraft expert if there's anything they can do to restore it.

It probably boils down to the basics, like Saint Laurent’s leather supplier that year or the humidity / weather. I know, I am sad they couldn’t offer a solution at all. Like it was my fault because i basically used it everyday, but isn’t that what you’re supposed to do with a wallet? 😭 I did bring it to a few leather doctors or specialists and they all said they can’t do anything about it. I won’t lose hope though-I will try to find a shop that can restore or fix this issue. ☺️☺️☺️☺️

As for the Ferragamo and the Tibi shoes, you might need to check the humidity of the room where you store your leather shoes and bags. They could be caused by too much humidity and you might need to install a dehumidifier. I suggest to bring the shoes to your local cobbler and have them cleaned or use a leather cleaning solution.

Same thing happened to my YSL College bag. The leather on the edges are peeling. I got it a little over a yr and it’s barely used coz of covid. YSL won’t fix it coz they say it’s regular wear and tear. Doesn’t make sense and I’m so disappointed.

Oh man! That is so disappointing. I’m already devastated with my wallet, what more you, your bag is falling apart. 😭😭😭 It’s really bad quality. I was told before by a friend who worked in luxury the leather used in YSL doesn’t work well with our climate. Still-not an excuse!

My YSL wallet is messed up too!!! I have a similar YSL wallet, it's gold hardware, black grainy leather. The gold hardware is tarnishing to the point of turning completely silver and the leather feels weird, like tacky or something. I put some leather moisturizer on it but it didnt work. I took it to YSL, they took pictures and now I'm waiting to see what they have to say regarding repairs. I'm in Canada and the wallet was purchased in a Toronto boutique. Anyways this really turned me off from the brand!

The same thing is happening to my Prada wallet re: your YSL purse. It’s frustrating 😩. And yeah, you’d expect better after sales service from luxury brands. I’m now sticking with saffiano when it comes to wallets as my decade old one is still holding up pretty well. Thanks for sharing your worst buys. 💖

You can store the shoes with dehumidifiers or silica gel so it dont get moldy.

I was using it everyday until I noticed that the glazing was coming off. Maybe it rubbed against the other things in my bag? So crazy! I didn’t realize how delicate it was! 😭

Buying items that I’m not sure I really like just because they are on sale is my major mistake too in the last 5 years. I ended up selling them, some at a loss. I barely buy sale items now. I have to think really hard why I’m buying them. I’m disappointed about your YSL purchase and the customer service. I have the monogram clutch in chevron quilting similar to your wallet and so far it’s good, the glazing is still good. For your shoes, I agree that you can have them repainted so you can use them again. I don’t think the Versace belt will work for you so maybe sell it. Take care!

I would’ve been the most loyal customer if they had offered me a solution to this glazing issue. Saint Laurent's poudre grain is just horrible when it comes to wear and tear. I had 3, THREE bags from them in this leather and two weeks later it peels like crazy. Buuuuut, my mini Loulou and Rive Gauche (from Hedi Slimane time) hold up well.
