lau sorry from the word itself “emergency”, it MUST be a life and death situation. “Emergency” is such a trigger word for us doctors. It is not an emergency unless you will die from a situation in a few minutes or hours. I understand where you’re coming from but please don’t blame the doctor or clinic for not having a sense of urgency on attending to you because i believe you also had shortcomings on your part because you did not not go for a follow-up check-up with the same doctor which is very important. “Doctor shopping” is a sad reality. It is very important to follow-up with the same doctor so that they would keep track on the course of your disease or problem and would know the next step on curing you.Well, anyway, I hope we all learn from this. Don’t get me wrong, I just want to make that point. Anyway, Congrats on your skin journey!

Lorenzo hello! I commented that based on my knowledge on hospital medicine, knowing a derma is a medical doctor. 😅 also, I have read several licensed dermatologists who do teleconsultation on twitter. the telederms do not count acne as an urgency during the start of the lockdown, hence they only cater those urgent concerns, such as allergic reactions and SEVERE reaction to medications.

@@lorenzovista1665 dermatologists do have emergencies, they cater and take care of different diseases not just for aesthetics. They can also perform surgeries. Lupus is a disease that can be taken care of by a dermatologist. Burn victims also fall under their care. They are actual doctors and not aestheticians.

This is the reality with doctors and the medical industry in general. Everyone wants to be prioritized, everyone has emergencies. The doctors and staff can become indifferent after years and years of chaotic conditions. Sad to hear about your experience but I believe it's been quite enlightening for you long term.

For some reason I also felt her wanting to be prioritized for a moment there. I get that she’s panicky and if it was me,I’d also want explanations but growing up in a family of doctors and having to hang out in clinics if Im not in school, seeing a patient who constantly calls and abrupts a doctor while they’re about to meet and consult some of their patients at the same time, can be quite annoying.

I think the reason why there was no urgency was because you weren’t showing any symptoms or side effects. And since clinics and hospitals are undermanned and not open at full capacity, they are prioritising the more urgent ones. People, please don’t self medicate. My father and grandma love to do it and they’re not getting any better.

I know you’re partly blaming yourself about not researching the ingredients in the products but at the same time kasi if the product was prescripted or came from a dermatology clinic you trust that its safe. Also sa unang prescription palang dapat they were straightforward na the product should not be used for a long time. They just gave it to you and called it a day.

Totoo talaga yung "less is more" when it comes to skincare. I have also experienced a bad breakout before and i'm partly to blame din bc i ditched the products that I was using to try different ones because it worked so well on my friend. I tried toners and gel moisturizers, i changed my cleanser but I only broke out so, so bad. Ngayon I've learned my lesson na. I only use a cleansing soap and moisturizer. I also don't use foundation. My face is not that flawless but it surely is better than before.

1. What happened was unfortunate. The clinic should’ve checked who was buying the medicated products. And the doctor should have handled it better. She should’ve treated you with respect and apologized. 2. I think the doctor talked to you thay way because each working day of a doctor is really stressful. It isn’t an excuse but I think you have to understand. Most people complain about having to wear masks and face shields everywhere. Imagine a doctor’s work day. Imagine putting yourself in danger everyday because there are patients who need you and you have a family to feed. Imagine being anxious everyday because you don’t want to bring home a disease to your family. Imagine yet another toxic work day and somebody calling you, asking to be prioritized over the patients who probably had urgent issues as well, given that they braved going to the clinic despite the pandemic. Calling it a “skin emergency” instead of plain “emergency” does not make the word emergency less of an emergency. There are actual skin emergencies that people die from. And if you had the time to wait and call multiple times, her assistant most probably already told her about it and she knew it wasn’t an emergency. 3. Aivee clinic is a big clinic thay caters to personalities like you. They were built for that purpose. So yes, they will have the time and the resources to give you priority. 4. It is important to go to follow-ups if you’re told to follow-up. There’s a reason why you’re being followed up. It’s not just something doctors want to do for the sake of it. 5. Long story short, everything could’ve been avoided. And the doctor could’ve handled the situation better. And the incident should serve as a learning experience for you and for the clinic.

Madami side effects ang steroids if not ginagamit without monitoring. For me ang patient clueless yan unless may medical background sila..hindi nila alam ano ang question na dpat itanong. as long as binentahan sila then it is fine..ang responsibilidad nasa doctor and staff ng clinic. Before leaving the hospital or derma clinic instruction how to use the medicines and how long to use it.Patient counselling yan. Responsibility ng doctor, nurse and pharmacist yan.

I’ve suffered from cystic acne since my teenage years, and am finally getting my skin to where I always hoped it would be. Nonetheless, I still do research and watch a lot of KZbin videos to educate myself on how to effectively take care of my skin in as fewest steps as possible. I thought this video was going to be helpful, but it probably is the LEAST HELPFUL VIDEO I HAVE SEEN out of the hundreds (maybe even thousands). Not to mention, probably the least relatable, too Don’t get me wrong, I watch Laureen’s videos-they’re entertaining! I’m a fan of luxury items, travel, but maybe I don’t quite understand Laureen’s viewer demographics. Pero sa tingin Ko, Hindi kayang abutin ng simpleng Pilipino ang bayarin sa clinic na ito. I’m in the states, and I believe in investing in your skin, but I don’t imagine the treatments in this clinic to be reasonable/affordable, even for me! Maybe I should do a skin journey video that more people can relate to. QuaranSkin is real!

Sa pagkakaintindi ko sa story mo you are using this for 4-5yrs na because hiyang or gumagana sau and that’s why you never go to a clinic or to a dermatologist for a consultation or follow-up. That’s a wrong move. That’s why you have to have a follow-up check-up or consultation to monitor your skin and to have a right prescription for the status of your skin. I’m not a dermatologist but I have a daughter who’s consulting to a dermatologist. It’s - long process and kapag nagskip ka ng process babalik ka ulit sa step1. We do have a diff skin type so whatever works for you will work for others. Kaya mas ok magpakonsulta sa tamang Doctor. It’s not about how you well know the product your putting on your skin but it’s about the right person who knows the product that will help you and that is the dermatologist☺️

Agree that LED therapy works! Experienced the same twice in the past. (1) my skin had an allergic reaction using a topical cream prescribed by aivee clinic. I immediately called the clinic and scheduled a check up the following day. They did 2 facial treatments..one of the treatments was jet infusion i think. I just got disappointed that i actually paid for all the treatments needed to fix the damage caused by the prescribed topical cream. May refund naman dun sa cream but i still got disappointed that it cost me more. I stopped going to aivee after that experience. (2) another reputable clinic recommended a mild peeling treatment. Micro peeling lang daw but that same day nasunog yun face ko. As in painful burning sensation. Sunog talaga as in black patches na nagresult to melasma. Took me months to fix the damage. The clinic offered several treatments and closely monitored ako ng doctor nila kaya hindi ko na din nagawang magalit ng sobra. Nagkatrauma na ko sa derm clinics kaya super research muna ako ngayon before using any products or treatments sa face kasi mukhang sensitive talaga ang skin ko.

My skin was so clear before and super dalang lang akong magkapimples but when quarantine started, I had a major breakout (not because of a product tho, maybe hormones idk) I didn't have the resources to go to a skin clinic so I did a lot of research as to what products would work best to treat my acne. My skin is nowhere near to what it used to look like but these past few months has been a huge learning experience for me. There may be days where you feel ugly and demotivated but just trust the process. Take one day at a time and just give it time. You are more than your acne 💖

Nag pa inject ako sa clinic ng pimples ko and lumubog yung part where my pimple is, it was a first time na naencounter ko yun. I ask my former derma if bakit yun nangyare, may problem daw sa dilution ng gamot. So fast forward nag set ako ng appointment with him and pinag harap kami ng staff nya na gumawa ng procedure sakin, they even cover it up and never took responsibility for the damage they made on my skin. Makarma sana sila.

This situation is so normal in the Philippines. Patients not fully disclosing their medical history, what they’re taking or using that could affect their current conditions. Please don’t self medicate & always inform your current doctor of your previous medical conditions & medications. Not just about skincare... there should be a broader discussion on giving out proper medical history. fluocinonide in most countries are by prescription only. Please name names or sue the clinic that sold you this. Personally, if there’s an ingredient I can’t pronounce or don’t know on my skincare I google/research about it. Thanks for sharing and I hope we can all learn from this.

I also used corticosteroid for 7 years. Same with you Ms. Lau, I didn't go back to my previous derma but I kept on buying the cream from a drugstore. However, unlike yours, I believe this is my fault. I kept buying and using it even if the derma cautioned me about it and even if I already read a lot of articles about steroids. Luckily, I had an online consultation with a derma last August 2020 and she has prescribed me to use a product that is not steroid based but equally effective. My skin is better now and I haven't been using any steroids. 💖

I had the same issue- No label on the cream for ingredients and have been using the cream for 15yrs. I had steroids withdrawal for 6months-1yr. The first month was really bad. I cry every morning due to the pain. My face was flaky itchy rough and red. Bad news is the derma cant do anything abt it since its super painful to treat just putting a facial cleanser hurts. Cetaphil even dried my skin more. After that i had a skin reset no non natural products but it really was a painful and long journey- Aloe gel nature republic saved my life. Now my skin is super low maintenance and yes an occasional aivee visit too ❤️

Way back my family & friends say that my skin is clear, and I agree to it because I don’t really get breakouts, especially on my cheeks, I usually get breakouts in my forehead and my brows only. It was around may when my skin suddenly had breakouts everywhere and I didn’t know what to do because I’m not really a skincare expert and I don’t really know what my skin type is. When breakouts happened, I was really in a panic because I have never experienced this before, but I still continue on using my skincare products (which are approved by trusted vloggers), it continued until august/september. During those moments, I was really frustrated because my acne’s were really so bad, sometimes I breakdown and think that my skin will not go back to what it was before, but when I bought products that are 100% organic, it somehow helped a lot in my skin and now, it’s healing and when I get breakouts, I only apply these and then the next day, they’re gone! It’s only been my one month but my skin is getting better.

I had an episode of a very dry, flaky, & super super itchy face years back. I got a recommendation to have a skin patch test in VMV. They gave me a couple or 3 products to use, and my skin calmed & healed in only a matter of days. I only used very little amount from that 1 set of prescription and all was cleared. I kept the product even after it expired and tried to use it when i get random red patches (i couldn't buy a new 1 coz i reside abroad and doesn't visit pinas often). And it still works perfectly fine even after expiration! I was really impressed with that experience back then that i gave them a very positive feedback when they followed up on me. They were happy with my review that they asked if they can feature my experience to some magazine or newspaper article (i don't know what happened with that though). I'm not sure you had to go through this super lengthy process, it seems so unnecessary. The way i see it, your treatment could have been shortened a great deal with the right dr and product.

I am also currently experiencing my worst breakout since end of june and it's already affecting my mental health and self-confidence. I'm still asking myself why is this happening because back in first week of June 2020, my face is clear and I took a lot of selfies that week because my skin was dewy, hydrated it was basically korean skin even though i stopped my basic skincare for the whole month of May 2020. But at that month also (June 2020) our house renovation started and even though its dusty, I was not wearing a face mask and still not doing my skincare again and that's when my breakout started. The first week of starting my skincare, my pimples were healing. So after 2 weeks, my cousin suggested me to use some products that she uses, but unfortunately it was not 'hiyang' for me and till now, my skin is currently breaking out because of trying products since july and I am crying almost every night because I can't visit a good derma and pay for all of the treatments that my face need. This is affecting me so much because this is also my first time breaking out in my whole life because people always tell me that I have good skin and that I'm lucky that I didn't experience breaking out back then when I started entering puberty stage. People back then are always asking me what products do I use because my skin is so nice even though I don't really use anything on my skin. Gusto ko nalang matapos to kasi hindi ko na kaya, honestly.

Siyempre influencers would promote products they are paid to do so. I’ve used the midnight rec serum and it was too heavy for my acne prone sensitive combination skin. Ung salycilic face wash nila too harsh very drying. Also madaming comedogenic ingredient ang kiehls na not good for my skin type. pls do your research first. If you have perfect skin na ok lang kahit ano ipahid hindi nagkakapimple baka pwede sayo to. Depende talaga sa skin type.

That is why I am very picky on what I put on my face. And I am very picky to where I go for my facials. I don't just jump ahead on what other recommend or what other people do to their skin. I just follow on what I want with my skin and who I trust touching my skin.

Hi Laureen. *Long comment ahead I also am currently experiencing acne breakouts (fungal and bacterial). I thought it was hormonal at first. Well, it started last September when I added a toner in my skin care routine. 😪 After three days, there were acne all over my face, so I stopped using it. I tried to look for a remedy by watching youtube skin care videos, researching online, and trying on variety of skin care products and they helped me somehow. A month after, I thought I cleared my skin and felt very happy not knowing those products made my face dry and dehydrated. I was frustrated and saddened everytime I look in the mirror 'cause it's my frist time dealing with skin breakouts. Moving forward, I decided to see a dermatologist last week and had a regular facial cleaning. She told me to stop using all the products that I bought and prescribed a soap and two spot acne treatments (one for the morning and one every night). I somehow noticed improvements but I also noticed some redness on my face last night. I think my face has been burnt and by the spot treatments. Haay. (Don't know what to do anymore) Now I decided to stop the gels and stick with just soap and aloe vera gel (from the plant itself) as my moisturiser. I hope my face gets better anytime soon. 😅 Thank you for this video, Laureen. Happy to know that you 'conquered' it. 😍 Keep safe always.

Sa derma clinic in robinsons hindi talaga sila nagbebenta ng mga creams kapag hindi ka regular client. Strictly! Nag ccheck talaga sila ng history and dx mo at records. May pagkukulang talaga yung staff nila. Tsk tsk pwede naman iinform nila na kailangan kayo makita dermatologist first bago mag bigay ng mga nilalagay sa muka. At emergency? Pwede naman polite na sabihin na hindi emergency pero need na makita or macheck ung balat ng urgent na. Kase pwede magbago ung sensitivity ng balat or worst masira ang skin barrier at magiwan ng sakit sa balat. 😞

A lot of us women can relate. There might be some exaggerated use of the word emergency but it's a girl thing worrying much about something so important as our skin. The only lapse I think is there should have emphasis more on consulting a doctor and do follow-ups instead of the emphasis of checking the products used. Nevertheless we women should learn from each other and not to drag one because we do not agree or practice the same. 💕

Ive been through my bad days before and it really gave me so much depression too. I have lost my confidence back then to the point that i really dont want to go out and looking at the mirror made me even more depressed. I dont know what to do ,i even bought some equipment for my face to stop my skin from getting more pimple. And now my skin has slowly starting to get normal again. Whew! Achievement! Haha I’ve used Led lights as well to at least lessen the bacteria on my face and it worked for me too. Thank you for sharing this experience to us my fashion icon 😘❤️

Hi Ms. Laureen! When using antibiotics you can’t just stop or skip a day because your skin is getting better already but still follow the prescription kasi po magiging useless yung pag inom kasi naka depende po sa half life nung gamot yung effectivity nung dosage and it will promote resistance to the drug po. Thank you! I hope you well 😊.

Its irresponsible for such a known clinic to dispose steroidal creams just like that for profit, I am extremely sad that you had to go thru all this, You have this huge platform you should advocate on Natural skin care and eating clean instead of an overpriced clinic that does this to you. I want to give up before as well since I’m not seeing results after 1 and half month of treatment, but I trusted the process and I’m super happy now. I still have looooong way to go tho. Hi miss Laureen, I can totally relate to your acne journey. I have suffered almost every day of my life and it really affected my confidence. I am a doctor by profession and sadly I have neglected proper skin care during my 20s. I get breakouts like one a year pero grabe po. I had cystic acne and my face really became red. My advise is that, first, you should consult a certified dermatologist, not just those for aesthetic but can handle clinical cases as well. Here in the philippines PDS board certified dermas are the ones whom you can seek consult to. We are taking the same medications the tetralysal.. and I also took isotretinoin after that because my acne before was so bad. Really! But now, it's all clear. One in a while i get small pimples probably caused by hormonal changes. You'll get through and we all learn our lessons really well when it comes to our skin. We have different types of skin. Some are really blessed na kahit d na sila mag skin care. Right now, I am just using Kiehls and they've become mybholy grail as if I finally found my skin's true love. You'll be okay soon, just follow your dermatologist's advise. Stay healthy always.

Evidently, some people just cannot understand how to react to people who are sharing something that it personal to them. As viewers, we have all the luxury of sitting in front of our screens and to keep on forming opinions about these people that we watch even though we do not really know them. It's funny how we just choose to be nasty when clearly, this video was made to share a personal traumatic experience, irregardless of what terms should be used in describing the situation. If she had any ill intent, she would have long mentioned the name of whoever already. But that is not the point of the video. The point is again, to share a personal traumatic experience. So to all those who have something negative to say, by all means, make a video telling us about your own personal traumatic story, and let us all sit here and wait for us to judge you as you judged others.

this vlogs makes me realized to be more carefull of the skin care prods that i have to use to.. i've also experienced this but i thought it was just because of the different skin care prods. that i've been trying to used, from one another after a few month then switch to another, and maybe some of them also contain steroids (since i'm not checking the ing. also) because if i stop using it, breakout comes out then i go back to use it again,,but just lately that i decided to let my skin rest,, then i got price acne, blockheads and rashes come out, and i got almost depressed, because ever since i never experienced to had alot of bumps in my face 😢, then i realized to find a perfect skin care for me then settle, but better check the ingredients before using it,, a big thanks to you😘

Aww. Dapat talaga pag may steriod sa ingredients- with prescription. And hindi siya usually dinidispense or in lay mans term di xa binibigay/benta pag hindi ung mismong patient ang kumukuha. Yun yung maling part ng unang derma. Im glad naging okay na skin condition mo Lau. Mas okay talaga pag milder mga products and less sa mga make up products. I hate taking selfies kasi feeling ko ang panget panget. Tried different products pero walang effect. I tried rejuv sets okey sya for few weeks tapos grabe balik ng pimples after. Now, gumagamit ako ng gentle products like Cetaphil, less product toner, serum, moisturizer and sunscreen. Meron pading pimples pero atleast di na sya sabay sabay at di ganun kalaki yung labas nya. Still looking for good derma para mas macheck yung skin ko. Good thing may mask ngayon at nakakapag pahinga sa make up. Sana soon maging okey nadin skin ko. 🙏🏼

Steroid cream also ruin my face. I've been using cortizone for how many years already as topical cream, but I've been overwhelmed by the result so I did use it in my whole face. After 4-5 days using it, I feel bumpy textured sa face ko and pimps in my forehead. I consulted my derma and she did tca peel which I think mas nairitate ang skin ko. Kasi one of the side effect of steroid is thinning the skin so not recommedable yung tca peel. Sooo, it's a nightmare journey and ayaw ko nang balikan. Eventually, I reset my skin and came back to my simple skin care. Facial wash with mild ingredients (lumi ac foam wash- good for sensitive skin) and then moisturizer (ivatherm ivapur k) and then my sunscreen (uvest) lastly for active pimples (clindamycin) don't use basta bastang clindamycin. Much better if yung bibigay ng derma.
