I'm not much on religious groupings, as I feel most are subject to interpretation by the leaders. Jess seems to be extremely happy in her beliefs, so why would anyone ever want to take that from her. I don't know if Mormons have it right, or any other religious variant for that matter. In the end it's the people that matter, and she seems like a truly kind person. If her church has helped bring her into the world the way she is then I should have no trouble with it.

because the entire premise for the religion is phony - their founding document is riddled with holes. Jesus Christ never had a church. He never visited North America. Native Americans are not descendants of the tribes of Israel. Black people are not descendants of Cain, their skin colour is not a curse. All falsehoods propagated by the book of Mormon. It is painful to see someone devoting their life to something so contrived and fake. Joseph Smith was a CONVICTED CON MAN! He married 14-year-old girls! Why not just be a Christian instead? You can still worship Jesus of Nazareth, and at least their holy book isn't so obviously a fake.

In 2019, a former employee of Ensign made a whistleblower report to the IRS alleging that the church held over $100 billion of assets in a large investment fund. I would not think that $100 billion equates to "There isn't any money involved" When people become a LDS member they need to give 10% of their salary to the church. Missionary work is getting new paying members. It 'is' about the money if you go high enough up the food chain.

As an atheist myself I have enough criticism and objections towards nearly all religions, this includes the Church of LDS. But still I can’t understand the hatred and disrespect in the comment section. You can disagree and still be respectful towards the beliefs of others. In fact, if you want to reach people and want them to listen to you, calling names, screaming in their face that they’re wrong or mock them or their beliefs in general, isn’t going to help. In fact, it only work counter productive in my opinion.

@@brabbelbeest Don't be disingenuous. It's 2024. Every religious person must lie to themselves and pretend facts don't matter to have their wanted belief. They just pretend they are part of the special club, and everyone else has it wrong. The ones that push it are despicable by taking it a step further and pushing their personal lies onto you. Not respectable behaviour. Not how you treat a friend. The amount of chosen and wanted ignorance that goes into having and holding a religious belief means they are all liars. How about. Instead of worrying about feelings over facts, we fix this religious nonsense in the world by actually disrespecting the silly notion until it eventually dies and the world can be a better place. You do you and enable archaic belief be equal to fact as a respect. And I'll be honest. You do realise the world can never be secular whilst it exists right. You want to live with bigots controlling politics with their fairytales forever? Because that is what we have. The respect doesn't flow from them exactly to anyone who isn't them. So why would you bother? I am an atheist. Polls show that 80% of the USA would rather live next door to criminals than me. How respectful of them. They want respect? I want a Gay drag Queen pastor leading a sermon in a Catholic Church. I don't think either of us will get it. If they want respect, they could maybe start it off with NOT thinking that I will burn for eternity. As that is core to their belief. They all have it. That's not very respectful. Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic. He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on. The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north. In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin" The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind" The sun is "The light of the World" The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea. "He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays. Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo. The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass. The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12. The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30. The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes. The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected. The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe. In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun throug the heavens.
