You're a natural born storyteller, which is an amazing gift, and I love listening to your voice! Please consider writing a book about your experiences as I believe many women could learn alot from you. I'd also recommend a career as a voiceover artist as your voice is soothing and peaceful. None of your hardships are intended to fade away into nothingness. Each one is helping shape you into the phenomenal woman that God has destined you to become. Blessings, my beautiful and resilient sista! Hold your head up and continue to keep moving forward on your purposeful path.

Please consider that a life of ease as ok Nolu. You don't have to subject yourself to be a prisoner of war (POW) to obtain life lessons. You're no one's punching bag,, doormat, or cattle, never accept mediocre treatment. We all need to look within regularly, yes even introverts, to understand why patterns show up on repeat in our respective journeys in life.

Sorry for your bad experience. It's important for some people to know that many places & things seem exciting based on hype & trend, but that's just the outside appearance. For some people, based on the history of experience among fellow human beings, it's always necessary to take a deeper look into the pros & cons & the, "in case of," more so than others, before following the crowd, as support systems & laws may not be available or work in one's favour "in case of." Never overlook reality in order to come across as being positive. Everyone's luck is not the same! It might be a good time for you to consider returning home. May God be with you!

One thing I´ve learned in my professional life is that some types work in some places with a certain kind of people, whatever they pay you or whatever they promise it's not worth it. And it's not just China it's everywhere in the world. The sad thing is often you only see how bad things are in some workplaces after you sign the contract and are there everyday dealing with all the bad stuff. Employers lie a lot during the recruiting phase and the reason for it is there are no consequences. One of the current strategies in my country is demanding social media details and access from the worker so they can check if they complain about the company in any way. If they see it they will make your life miserable in every way possible to make you leave in a bad way so they can call you a dissatisfied worker with a grudge against authority. That way any complaint you make even in a court of law is dismissed. Freedom of speech and freedom to have a personal private life are a lie. It's illegal in my country to ask this information from candidates or workers but if you refuse they don't hire you or they fire you. And again no consequences, even if you go to court you can never prove you didn't give access voluntarily or that the reason for dismissal was saying something bad on social media. Free speech is a lie Everywhere and people's rights in laws and constitutions and the ability to actually benefit from those rights are two completely different things. A couple of years ago it was a simple thing to get information on companies before you commit, now with these practices you try and check a company and there's always 10 good reviews for every bad one to mask the reality. My advice is do your best to save money so you can live your normal life for at least 6 months or ideally a year without working. That way if things turn bad in a job leave as fast has you can and search for another one. The dependency on a paycheck is how employers bully and enslave us. Don't be fooled slavery never ended and there are so many people in the world who are slaves and don't even realize it. Anyway best wishes and keep fighting to be happy

It's not perfect, but it's still a neat place to live in. I work and live in China now, too. It's ok! Yes, the money is good, but you have to be very open-minded especially when it comes to work culture. The things they do can be aggravating, especially when you're German. 😅 But I mostly fall under the radar and don't even get starred in that much.

I thought you want to the Middle East: Qatar, Saudi, Kuwait and the UAE pay pretty well. They tend to help with housing and health insurance. Sometimes they cover costs of flights. Apparently Saudi is the place to be, the country is changing a lot, só foreigners feel at ease there. Apparently Taiwan and Singapore are not bad. And Japan is still a global favorite but the cost of living is super high. Some people like Russia and Eastern Europe countries but the pay is not the best even though it's cheaper to live There. Someone mentioned South America, but once again, pay not the best. Anyhow, all the best in your journey

If you are a black man from Europe Canada or the USA they treat you decent to avoid diplomatic problems if not run like hell If you are a white woman depends on the job but there are lots of dangers. And women alone, gays, lesbians and people who use recreational drugs regardless of the color of your skin stay away and don't even visit these countries. They are horrible to black people from sub saharian Africa. They use and abuse you like slaves often they take your passports, refuse to pay your full contract, stop paying you without notice, house you in metal containers converted to makeshift housing, kick you out, arrest you, beat you. People just disappear never to be heard of again. If you read any stories believe in all of them. Be warned and stay safe.

I did something similar. I was living in South Korea and then moved to Germany. The hype and German expectations you spoke of is true for me too. However, at the same time, it was a learning experience, I learned a lot and left Germany wiser. Spain has options for English teachers too. If the German culture isn't your vibe, check out Spain or you can ask me about it. If you ever consider going to Europe, there are options. 😊 From my own personal experience, try to limit the amount of work you do for kindergartens and private academies. 😉

That's great advise! Please drop some more advise for those of us looking for work in Spain, Portugal and even Germany as an English teacher? What did you like about your experiences in Germany vs Spain? I am looking to finally make my way to the European continent and although I wanted to quit teaching, I may have to continue for a couple more years. So far Germany does not look appealing for teaching English...

@@joannajourneys We'll need some biscuits to go with the tea I've got to spill! 😅 But I'll do my best to give some pointers. 😉 I can't add links because it will be marked as spam. So here are some places one could start their research for teaching English in these countries: Germany - (important: research the reviews from employees too!) Kindergartens /kinderkrippe, Volkhochschule, Eifert, KMP Sprache, Learnship **These are all private if you don't have German accreditation from Germany to work in German Schools. Portugal - I don't recommend to teach English here for many reasons. For one, It has many financial downsides. Please do some research post-Covid and you'll see what I mean. Italy is similar. I love Italy but I worked in a different industry at a company there (not in Education). Even they couldn't keep me full-time because of the local unemployment situation. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to find work as an English teacher there. Spain - Research 'English private academies in Spain' and 'Spain English Government Programs'. Their government programs are similar to South Korea but you get paid a living stipend instead of a full salary (last time I checked). High competition though. I haven't done the government program but there are many websites that show the pros and cons. I make more money as a freelancer than the government program offers. With that being said, I also do more than teach English. As English teachers in western Europe, I think we need multiple sources of income to survive. Relying on one school isn't enough anymore. My preference thus far: I prefer Spain over Germany. It's just all-around better for my spirit and my lifestyle. My 3 years in Germany were more than enough. 😅 I hope this has helped. 😊

This helped immensely. Wishing I could give you a packet of your favourite tea time snack lol... I can totally read between the lines. German culture can be nice for 5 minutes, otherwise it is extremely draining (once the complaining and comparison begins and superiority complex kicks in). They are otherwise lovely people. When one is from a warmer culture, such as South Africa, one needs good vibes and big vibrant smiles. You have put me on a good trail and I am going to get to work. I have begun research into these government programs in Spain. I can already tell that because there is a middle man there is less money involved. I'm glad you have found your feet and are making more bank as an independent teacher. Sharing information with others is such a mark of generosity and good will. Thank you@@soulfulandnice

German is a difficult language and I am not sure how racism might still be an issue. But I am mixed and I haven’t any obvious racism problems. But that depends a little bit on who you ask. No Covid tests or vaccine requests anymore ( I hope it stays like that). Most people are friendly and want to help. German is a difficult language and I don’t know how easy it will be to get a job. @mimmiekgaditse1517 Once upon a time, Africans had their own religion. In those glorious days, there was justice, no hunger, no poverty, none of that. White men sent scouts to Africa. The historical reports can be read by anyone who is interested. It's history. You can study it in university. The white man decided the only way yo destroy cohesiveness among the Africans was to introduce their God. Their religion. The religion of inequality. Because people could only be conquered from the inside. Africans took to that religion, a religion they don't understand because the don't understand the Bible, like ducks to water. Please observe the great poverty of West Africa. They've been Bible thumping for years and they get poorer. Please observe Zimbabwe. They've become rabid Bible thumpers and the dark wave of poverty is sitting on them. The white man won.

Something very odd about her story- no context at all and always drama. If you watch her other videos she complains everywhere she goes including her home country. She publically posted a clickbait title calling China the worst country and spent the video whingeing on and on about quarantine hotel which sounded quite normal and just standard in many places around the same time. She also seemed to be trying to hide the fact she likely had covid while entering knowing how China takes this very seriously over there considering the number of deaths they had the impact it had on the country. How selfish and inconsiderate. Her story seems very fishy and she seems to love the drama and attention. Other Africans seem to have shown great experiences e.g. look at Rose in China and other channels. Negative energy and drama everywhere she goes in all her videos it seems.

I do not support you Serpentza the Snake (he commented somewhere down below or up), I have seen you lie so many times but I (to some extent) agree with his comment here because there are actually very few and somehow ambiguous laws in China that protect foreigners. It so happened that I got into a situation where some Chinese needed to be held accountable by authorities and the BEST lawyer in town said this to me "It'll be very expensive (exceptionally for me, obviously because I am a foreigner), and it'll take so long, just forget it and move on". The fact of the matter is that if rights are given to foreigners, first that will infuriate the Chinese, and secondly, that will encourage more and more foreigners to come over and seek a better living in China. The influx of foreigners in China may create turmoil in the Chinese society and they often refer to the demise of France and other places that have taken 'too many' foreigners in. So the conclusion that China is a bad place, even from my point of view cannot be easily reached. At the end of the day, it's one bad HR manager with bad luck and I might add that foreigners very often cannot relate to the Chinese culture and that very often how things escalate to the point (I am not suggesting that the author of the video did anything wrong here but it's more about myself because I used to have a very negative attitude towards the Chinese culture in general, but here I am over a decade later still here in China)
