Tekken Notations - tekken.fandom.com/wiki/Move_T...
This guide has everything a beginner needs when picking up Yoshimitsu. From the basics in what moves to use in neutral and frame data on key moves. There are also combos, and wall-enders with explanations to help players understand the best means when wall splatting. I've also added Okizeme and Heat combo theory on how to use Heat with Yoshi. I hope this guide helps everyone😄.
A reminder that this is a Full *BEGINNER'S GUIDE*, if you are already knowledgeable on the character then this video is not for you. Also if there's something you believe I've missed, reply under the comment section so new players can see them as well. Help them as much as you are helping me.

For those that are having trouble with some parts of the video, I've made a new MIX-UP Guide that will also present some of the issues some of the audience have stated in the beginning of the video while also giving you guys some more useful tips for mix-ups with Yoshimitsu. I'll link it right here for everyone to go to. MIX-UP Guide - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6urcnpuiq1_fKM There's another mistake on my part. A fellow Yoshi has pointed out that in Flea stance the sword is the hit box not the body. So when getting near Yoshi, if your foot touches the sword it will hit and certain hits that may touch the sword area will also trigger the hit. My apologies for the confusement😓. Edit: Since I'm seeing more comments on why players can't land Flash during the Tornado Bound in the combo section, I'm assuming they haven't entered NSS (No Sword Stance) during the filler. If that's the case then your not doing the filler into the bound correctly, the attack prompts laid out state d,2,2,b - which means your not pressing back immediately to get into NSS, preferably holding back so that you can consistently enter NSS. Once done, dash in and then Flash, it should work. Let me know if by replying to this comment👍🏼.

Yoshi is harder for sure but once you learn fundamentals with one Tekken character, it carries over to every other character. Every character has universal tools: Jab strings Mid poke Low poke Power low Launcher Power crush Keep out move Whiff punish move While standing moves, Combo filler Combo ender That’s not 100 moves , that’s about 12.

@@delusional-lobo I wanted to ask, but sometimes when doing the Kincho stance (or whatever the 1+2 stance is called) there's a chance Yoshimitsu blinks and dodges an attack then tries to counter an opponent by teleporting out of the air. Is this a unique counter that happens if you time it with an opponent? I've had it happen a few times now and originally thought I hit Up 3+4 but I am dead certain the last time I did it when trying to stance dance with 1+2.
@delusional-lobo
@delusional-lobo 5 ай бұрын
actually yes, its a unique parry, but the attack itself is unlike u3+4 in that it doesn't give a launcher, just splats the opp tho it's still safe on block which is like u3+4 funny enough.@@clarencegutsy7309

If folks are having trouble getting the 2nd flash into FF +2 just framed to end the combo. You can do the exact same combos and after D/F 1,2,1, you can just dash forward and do your 3, 2, 1+2 flaming sword ender. Damage is very nearly the same.

Key for anyone that struggled with this like me. After D + 2,2, you MUST hit back to sheathe your sword before D/F 1,2,1 or the combos will not work. You need to be in NSS for the 2nd flash to reach far enough.

Very useful guide, thanks. Btw, for the okizeme on KIN D1 CH knockdown, it also gives a guaranteed CD1. The timing is easier as it can be buffered. It does more damage and gives the same oki options (samurai cutter or CD1). If you don't want to do oki you can also go for UF 3+4, 1. That is the max damage version, and it gives space between you and the opponent.

This is great, man. Thank you for the helping hand. Yoshi is just so tricky with all the control and mindfulness you need to have over your stances so this helps get my thoughts in order. Btw, are there additional recovery frames for going into Manji? I find myself going into the stance +7 on block and still getting hit out of f1+2 (16f startup) despite the opponent never crouching. Am I just being sloppy with my inputs?
@delusional-lobo
@delusional-lobo 3 ай бұрын
will it depends, if it was 3,1 - flea f2 - or Manji f2 on block it's should stop the opponent from attacking or they'll get hit as its still your turn. but if the move you've used was 3~4 (3 slide 4) then on block it's unsafe, on hit it'll be + 3 but entering into Manji stance will turn change it to +14, so you should be super safe to use Manji f1+2. either attack should check the opponent, it shouldn't back fire. I think what's going on is that you are doing f1+2 too slow, you are giving your opponent enough time to recover. Once you are + on block, you need to immediately "check" the opponent with the aforementioned moves like Manji 2 or Manji f1+2 to see if they'll press on you.

If anyone else is a scrub like me and is having a hard time with the FF2 at the end of a lot of these combos, you can also dash D22 instead for only a couple points less damage. Lets you set up NSS again as a bonus, but you miss out on serious style points and mental damage to your opponent. Edit: Might not work on characters with smaller hitboxes, have to test.

Also fun fact (i could be wrong so test it out for yourself) if you have someone who loves to powercrush you alot, if they happen to telegraph the move, try to see if you can sneak in the spin punches all the way through! From my experience worst case scenario damage comes out even and you are either set in neutral NOW IT IS RISKY Keep in mind but i have come out winning the trade since when you hit the armor they freeze and they end up taking the full damage of that combo haha They might question you but i mean are you really a yoshi main if you dont make them question their existence and live life to the edge??? @6:43 there's an error. In flea stance only the sword has a hitbox. Kazuya crouch dashes into it, that's why it goes off pretty sure.

I've made Kazuya attack with ff2 which is a non-crouching move,. As he gets too close, his feet may touch the sword for it to hit, even running or dashing in can cause this, ff2 is very low profile, so even though it's mid, the animation hits lower around the sword. However, you are right that it's not the body that causes the hitbox but the sword. That was my mistake😓

Do you have any tips for the combo at 1:04:40? Dragonfly 2 keeps whiffing. I'm microdashing before and after flash and only got it to land like 3 out of 50 times, lol. Nvm, I just figured it out right after writing that. I wasn't waiting long enough after the heat engage to close the distance. Anyway, great video!

Im having trouble with the last hit of "dash 1 4 ff 2 just frame" any insight on that execution. I get the ff 2 elbow instead of the slash..

tap 2 again right as you hit the opp with FF2, the just frame is just the hint to let you know to tap 2 as soon as you've hit them.

Is it worth trying to get into yoshi as a new player? i'm playing with friend and trying to get into steve but it seems too much different from other characters, they both seem so cool and fun to play, should i stick with what i like or should i pick up an easier character to try and understand tekken more? i already played some fighting games so i'm not totally a newbie when it comes to fighting game

I'll say Yoshimitsu is more advanced for beginners. You have to place far more time and dedication to win games, not to mention the 190+ moves you may have to remember. Lars, Asuka, Paul, Victor, and some others are better fit for Beginners. Steve is also a more advanced character, to be honest. But the level of difficulty is lower than Yoshi IMO. If you truly want to learn Yoshi, he'll be a strong pick for those whose style is more of an opportunist, unlike Steve who is more about bombarding the opp with attacks to make the opp impatient and attack so Steve can counterattack with b1, etc. So it's more up to time and your sense of gameplay style to choose Yoshi or Steve. However, I advice a character that is easier than them IMO.
