I follow Reviewtechusa since years ago and I must admit that the guy is genuine. I disliked many of his points of view but as year pass, either he changed his mind and recognized his own clumsiness, or I changed mine. And I feel that his evolution mirrors mine, watching the world with increasingly gray eyes. Rich is exactly what a normal person becomes when let the world fill him but not dominate him. I have unsubscribed from dozens of channels that changed to turn into toxic dumpsterfires and I regret the parasocial relationships I forged with them. But I think that it's impossible the same happens here. Because the direction is the opposite: Rich is nicer as year pass.

I was accepted to the KZbin partner program at the very beginning and remained a partner for almost 10 years. However, I never did anything with it and lost the desire to create and upload videos regularly so my channel remained small. Then when they implemented the "1000 subscribers" criteria, I lost the ability to monetize but still remained a KZbin partner... at least it said I was back when you had a screen of boxes with what you could and couldn't do. Then they redid the account and studio settings and it no longer says I am. Not that I care, just funny how I was in the partner program but couldn't monetize because I didn't have 1000 subs.

I completely agree with the "don't make your channel about one thing" point, especially with a trend like among us. Because when the trend eventually slows down, you could find yourself stuck with what to do with your channel. And based on various KZbinrs sharing their experiences, it can be hard to change audiences.

I've seen it happen a few times. I remember when I got into The Division there were a few dedicated youtubers that were really good. Out of all of them Skill Up was the only one to quickly branch into gaming reviews in general and has become quite successful. The rest wanted to stick with the franchise and their channels basically died with it .

My original channel was a KZbin partner in 2010. It was a complete crapshoot on what would be allowed to be monetized. Little rhyme or reason. However, pay was 10x what it is today.

A good dedicated troll has the power to shut down your channel, I wouldn’t ignore them. You never know when they’re in a bad mood, and decide to attack your channel as a means of venting their anger . Ya that’s a dumb idea .try it out on the streets, and see what happens or a job interview. People are people you have the power to either fix someone’s bad day, or make it worse. What you decide to do with that is your decision. Enough said.

I am 21 years old. I believe I found RTU around 2011/2012 and watched his vids on and off around this period, but once 2013 rolled around his coverage of the launch of the PS4/Xbone ramped up significantly. I was hooked. I was a 12 or 13 year old kid growing up in the first console generation launch I could actually remember and be apart of seeing. My hype was immense. Since then, I've been subscribed. And in that time, I've been through highschool, gotten my girlfriend, gone to college, found a job, moved out of my parents house and now have my own life, as well as trying/failing to get my own channel going. As odd as it sounds, I grew up with Rich, and yet never once have met the man. I grew up watching all of these events in this video unfold, and here I am. An entirely person from the kid I was when I stumbled upon some videos with a drunk guy pasted on the intro screen. Life is crazy y'all. Thanks Rich.

When I first watched Rich's videos, the troll incidents were still in the comment section. And yes, I've seen the channel change quite often. I don't really remember when I started to sub to his channel but he was still trying to find his niche and his voice. Now he is close to the 1M mark, and right now he doesn't have a dedicated troll audience, but a dedicated meme audience. I just love Rich's peculiar sense of humor from the start.

I remember the Cessnaace thing, I actually used to talk to the guy back in the day and he was a really nice guy. I think he still does the channel but it was easier to find him back then because YT let smaller creators be discovered. But I remember I was pretty cool with another guy (I forget his username but it wasn't one of the guys you mentioned) who straight up made like a "parody" video of Cessnaace where he was pretending to be him and was accusing him of some gross (I think unfounded?) things.

I remember the first time I uploaded a video to youtube was back in 2008 January but sadly that youtube channel when I created for that doesn't exist anymore. Long story short, friend tricked me and got my channel deleted. All my hard work, was just gone just like that, and I haven't had the drive or purpose to create videos anymore. I really enjoyed it back then but now not anymore. That channel lasted from 2008-2011. Then I created this one but I don't really create videos but mostly just watch now like I said, don't enjoy it anymore, and seeing how hard it is now to be a youtuber without getting into trouble with all the new and changing rules and people falsely clamming things about you and your channel. I could go on but I won't. So I've moved on.

Been rocking with rich since he was just a voice over talking about rumors while some random gameplay was shown. Found his channel out of pure boredom right before or after I found button check. I first thought the videos were kinda lame but this dudes sarcastic tone and lil jokes here and there were great. So I kept watching. It actually IS harder to become a partner now. I was Partner verified at 300 subs and able to monetize my videos back in the day before I quit for a while, and when I came back in 2020 I had to have over 1k subs before I could even monetize anything. The new partner rules and general corporate atmosphere of content creation on KZbin are part of the reason I stopped making videos. This site wants to pummel the everyday content creators while building up those who already have a well established following.
