London-based record dealer and selector Jamal Raouf obsesses over rare music from the farthest reaches. His curated online record shop, Distant Rhythm, shares an array of exotic music, creating a sense of travel and adventure for inquisitive e-diggers. You can find him monthly on Radio Alhara or at The Servant Jazz Quarters (Dalston) for his eclectic all-vinyl party, playing everything from Haitian compas to Thai synth-pop!
For this episode, Jamal presents a selection of sought-after records from the Arab World, including Algerian jazz-funk, Tunisian disco, and cosmic psychedelia from Lebanon. An infusion of Western genres with distinctly Arabic flavours carries this set from beginning to end.

@@MyAnalogJournal This time the alert was showed at 9:57 AM, -3 GMT (the time in São Paulo, corresponding to Brasília's time zone) and, as I didn't have anything to do at that time, listened to this set earlier than what would be my normal (first half of the afternoon in Sundays). To my surprise, these Middle Eastern and North African songs aren't that hard to find and I'll also thank Jamal Raouf to show the album covers on the screen, something that made easier to discover them. The harder to find was Fatima's 7" album, as it was on the lower left quadrant of the screen and for sure this singer has lots and lots of namesakes, needing to refine the search more than the usual.

A session that few people listen to, but it has the merit of being different from the usual “Analog Journal” programming. It would be a good idea to do a session with music from Central America and the Caribbean influenced by Arab music, knowing the immigration of Muslim origin having settled there in the first half of the 20th century. Une session que peu de gens écoutent, mais elle a le mérite d'etre différente de la Programation habituel d' " Analog Journal". Ce serait une bonne idée de faire une session avec les musiques d'amérique centrale et des Caraibes influencé par la musique arabe , connaissant l'immigration d'origine musulmane s'etant installé la bas dans la premiere moitié du 20 eme siècle .
