Well "your people" fought for the British to colonize Burma in the 19th century. Karen and British Indians (of all faiths) also worked for the British to oppress and suppress many Burmese independence movements. Once the British were gone, Karens have been waging a separatist war killing many Burmese soldiers. You have to be naive to think the Burmese have forgotten and forgiven what Karen tribes did to them.

Once colonized "your people" worked for the British to suppress many Burmese independence movements. And once Brits were gone "your people" have been killing Burmese soldiers in a separatist movement.
