I'm actually experience this now, and the amount that comes out is actually scary. I just turned 40 this year, but have suspected early perimenopause because my periods went from 6-7 days to 3-4, and lighter than before. Also experiencing lots of anxiety and panic attacks. I got tested for perimenopause and sure enough...I'm in it. 😩 I don't mind because I don't want more kids, but the hair loss thing has been insane. I just pray it slows down at some point.

Had Covid in April, was in hospital for several days, and in June, started with an alarming amount of hairloss, i believe its related to a medical condition called Telogen Effluvium (sounds like a spell from Harry Potter, i know) but it's legit. I was also using the OGX shampoo and conditioner with that horrible DMDM ingredient too, but pretty sure it's more related to the TE. I hope this helps someone - I'm taking biotin, vitD, zinc, B12, synthroid and a multivitamin, hoping it stops falling out soon!

Hair shedding is a normal process but about six months ago I noticed an increased amount of fallout. I bought a scalp scrubber to use for shampooing. I shampoo once a week. I only put shampoo on my scalp and work the scalp scrubber vigorously to work through to clean my scalp and hair roots. It also feels great so I tend to do it longer than I would have previously. My thinking is that shampoo and conditioners and hair products can build up and plug pores and hair follicles on the scalp. I have noticed a less fall out. Side Note: I do have my hair professionally colored and highlighted every few months and do root touch ups myself monthly.

So im on a touch of estrogen now. its slowed a little. but that first spell seemed like it was all at once. It consumed my thoughts. I noticed my part is wider and the very front top bang area. What are you complaining about, woman!? You have beautiful and thick, if slightly unevenly coloured hair! And stop being mean to your hair. However, after a year it started kinda growing back the same rate/texture but much darker🤷🏼♀️ I've definitely been having different symptoms/changes this last 3 months an the coarseness an frizz have almost completely calmed an my hair is starting to look healthy an shiny even when its not straightened! loved the video !! i believe the long hair theory, i think that once my hair gets to a certain length it’s harder to maintain and just in general can look less healthy as i’m less inclined to trim it because i love the length. also i think that when hair is long it’s easier to get caught on things and also get knotty and can rip when trying to get knots out ect.. i recently tried a new shampoo and conditioner and it caused some hair loss!! should have stuck to what i know ! :)

A girl friend and I noticed a significant thinning of our hair over the last few years we finished having kids years ago (we are in our thirties) My friend stared taking biotin (as well as D,E, and B vitamins) after three months the new growth was noticeable. So after struggling with this for about 4 years, I started the same regimen in july and I am just now noticing not only is my hair doing better (loosing less and get more new growth) but also my scalp and skin seam to be happier too. I also do daily scalp massage which has been scientifically shown to increase growth in those struggling with alopecia. So not sure if it’s the combo or what but thought I would share my experience 😊❤️

Definite yes on the hair loss. I chalk it up to my under active thyroid, tight hair bun and age! I can take my thyroid meds, loosen the bun or not put it up at all, but the age thing - - oh well! Keep safe and healthy - Barbara
My hair decreased by half after full hysterectomy and constant hormone balance battle along with hashimotos thyroiditis (flare ups of hypothyroid). I learned a lot from Dr Eric Berg's channel and increased certain foods, vitamins & minerals and my hair is a lot fuller now. But what a hormone roller coaster!

You’re not old! I’ve been reading up on this as well, considering HRT and diet, sleep changes to improve hair shedding. Yes, I am going through peri menopause and have noticed hair loss, it’s frustrating. I agree, tight ponytails don’t help. I don’t do that, so for me that’s not it. I'm 47. In January this year I noticed wads of hair falling out. like, a LOT of hair was coming out. It was around bra strap length at the time and I always tied it back. I'd stopped using permanent dyes about 6 months before and was using semi/temp dyes instead. I'm also perimenopausal and I was working way too hard, so there was the stress factor too. Sooooo.... I stopped dying it, I cut about 5" off and just chilled for a while. I cut another 5" off and it's just above my shoulders now. I'm also not working as much and my hormones have not been so erratic lately. My hair hasn't been this healthy in yeeeeaarrrs. I even don't mind the greys that are showing. It's back to a standard amount of hair coming out when I wash it and I don't tie it up anymore. I'm pretty chuffed :)

I hope someone sees this. My hair started falling out in chunks. My doctor dismissed it, because I am over 50. He said "Fun fact, did you know that men and women actually lose their hair at the same rate after 50?" Long story short. I soon found out that my calcium level had spiked to potentially fatal levels. I have hypo-parathyroid syndrome. It never would have been discovered had I not broken my wrist after a minor fall. I was extremely healthy...a marathon runner, just 6 years ago. I literally had to go to the ER and get an IV twice, to hold me over until surgery could take place, because my condition was life threatening. I never would have known. Hair loss is is a symptom, but doctors don't run blood tests over just that.
A ketogenic diet will cause hair loss . I did keto for a year, lost a lot of hair. . About 3 months after I quit keto my hair stopped falling out.

Now I'm trying msm and St. Tropica vitamins, we shall see. I'm sure stress and lingering health issues from whatever that sickness was is to blame. Thanks for posting, it helps with the stress of all this!🥰

Your hair still looks great! But I have noticed pretty much the same - increased fallout last 4-5 months. I am late 50's, through menopause, and have had what I consider normal thinning since my last pregnancy mid-30's. Just had my TSH (thyroid) checked and it's normal. Haven't colored my hair since pandemic started, no real other changes other than washing less and styling much less often, wearing it longer and mostly in a loose ponytail or bun, and too-avidly consuming the news. Does it seem like more because it's longer and the hairs fall out all at once when you take it down/wash/brush, rather than over time? Not sure. In the meantime, I'm trying: D3, Biotin, Hers Shampoo and Conditioner with Biotin (super-moisturizing, which I need), Hers Minoxidil drops (not as greasy as the foam version) , and bumping up the protein. Gonna try the scalp brush while washing next! Would love to see another post from you if you try something different and it actually works 😊

Long hair doesn't fall out any more than short hair, you just notice it everywhere because of its length. When I was in my late 30s, my hair was down to my knees. When my hair was to my upper thighs, it fell out at the same rate as it did when it was to my knees. The only time I had a problem with more breakage was when I moved to Arizona. Yeah, I'm noticing a lot more hair coming out and my ponytail feels thinner in my hand. I've always had a lot of thick hair, so I'm pretty sure it's due to menopause. It took me awhile to figure out that I want to be on estrogen and I finally settled on the patch, which I can recommend. Also, I have been attempting an intermittent fasting keto diet, and low protein intake causes hair loss. Double also, I was taking a biotin pill regularly and I ran out some months back. Anne-Marie has recommended melatonin for hair loss, so I'm giving that a try. I already had it for receding temples, so I'm just using more of it on top. I, too, would like to see video of your cat being walked. Didja see the photos of the cardboard houses built for cats during the lock-down? Ouch. Not fun. We women (tend to) depend on our hair to almost set the mood for the day. Losing it, seems to be telling us we are "losing it." A bad hair day can mess with our heads. In reality though, Lou, the peri-menopause thing and pony tails is probably your main cause, and just let that tail down and wait out the hormone shift around the corner. At my tender age (haha) my long hair has gotten so much SO much better, healthier, softer with quality hair products and avoiding curling irons, flat irons, and hot blow drying. So I have hope for you and will suggest you look at some of the many hair care videos bombarding the air-waves (pun intended). I'm liking CurlyGirl stuff right now. Play with it, don't be hard on yourself. I bet you will still look good with whatever it decides to do, and yes, hair DOES have a mind of it's own.

Also, I had my hair fall out and thin quite a bit a few times over and grow back completely. I believe it's part of a healing that is now worldwide☀️ happening I call it the lightbody process- now, it's fully back and healthier than before💗
