Would love to see a more in depth review, there’s not much online about any of their compounds. The company’s own run through videos show just how well thought out and designed they are, every detail has been looked at and considered. I get the feeling they are far more interested in doing the right thing by their users than following the latest fads of the market.

This Origin model is still a current model that has been around since 2015. Nothing comes close for this money. Superb bow. A breeze to adjust and tune. This model was Merlin/Mybo's return to manufacture after a long time. Since then they have launched 2 models; the Edge & recently the new Revolution.

The Origin was released as their flagship in 2016 or 2017 I think and the more expensive Edge arrived in 2018, with the revolution in 2021. The origin is therefore a fairly high end bow that has become cheaper as newer products were added to the line. This is a very good approach by Mybo. It means quality engineering is affordable. Their gear is top quality and I suggest you review their Certo X2 stabiliser too. It’s cheaper than the US alternatives and I haven’t found anything that does the job any better than their original Certo, and I own Conquest, shrewd etc. It’s just excellent stuff they produce.

Would you shoot a bit of a grouping at 18m and talk a little more about how it is to do an initial tune? I always like when I can see your grouping as I feel this gives me a good idea of what a good shooter can do with the bow.

Hi Steve I have been a fan of yours for almost to years. Your reviews are straight forward, biased and customer oriented. I came across MYBO some time ago. I saw a video cutting the riser out of a block of aluminium. I have been shooting a PSE Stinger and am considering the Expedite NXT. I don't think Mybo fits my budget. I haven't found a seller in Canada.

Great content as always. It seems to be the only channel that covers a lot of the bows that i have interests in. Between the origin and w&w shadow D, which is a better choice for mixed field/3d/hunting? I have a 31.5" draw so either should work out. I shoot NFAS field, which closely aligns with a roaming / stalking style hunt but with 3d targets. Ill also use it on occasional hunting trips abroad with family. UK here. I have email confirmation from win & win that they are still in the compound market. I asked them as their W&W black website has been down for a while - they seem to be midway through a brand restructure rather than bailing on the market.. Im aware w&w are in a flat spot sales wise, but even at RRP they appear good value. Seen the video on this channel of the 'hurricane d' - detailing darton cams and limbs are used and its a nice bow to shoot. Cant find anything covering the 'shadow d' in any level of detail that helps. Also i cant seem to find out if i can actually get a spare limb set (id want two weights due to a recovering injury). I know with the mybo i can get limbs, but ive heard it feels heavy. With a shoulder injury im expecting that a smooth shooting carbon setup could work out here.

Hey, thought I'd give some feedback in case it helps. I can't comment on the W&W but I do own this bow shown here. For background, UK shooter, 2 years, 28" draw at 45 lbs. I bought the Origin for target shooting. Lovely quality and shoots well. Around a year ago I thought I'd give field / 3D a try, and I started with my Origin. I enjoyed doing field and so, to be totally honest, I saw this as an opportunity to buy another shiny new toy. After trying a few bows at Merlin, I settled for a Bear Legit. The included cable slide caused me problems but once I upgraded it, it was great. My point is, as much as I love my Mybo Origin, I personally prefer a more compact bow when walking around a woodlands course. My £400 Bear seems to be just as accurate and enjoyable to shoot as my £600 Mybo (but to be clear, the lovely machining and anodising of the Mybo easily justifies the price difference). For me, as long as the draw cycle feels comfortable, I think the extras (sight, arrow rest, stabilisers, release, etc) make more of a difference to the shooting experience than the bare bow itself. Hope this helps.

@@austinrhubarb I can't go below 35" ATA really, for me that is your small bow! I've got a good 3.5" extra DL to cater which has a major impact on string angle & anchor. Id have endless options otherwise. Had a lot of advice from long DL guys around my size that say 35" should be my bare minimum using a release aid or minimum 40" for finger release - that was advice for field/hunting. Which seems rational tbh as when I shoot target recurve I prefer 72" for string angle since at 70" I have to lean my head in - though I use 70" for field as it's the smallest comfortable. 66" and I pinch the arrow with my fingers a little (so that's the absolute smallest I can physically shoot, accuracy ignored). For your DL, 68" is the textbook equivalent to my 72" (target recurve). That's -4", coincidentally very close to your compound preference with the bear legit (30" bear, 35" origin)... Unfortunately, while a lot of short bows do say they can run a long DL, and can - that's completely ignoring string angle, stability, comfort and accuracy. It's a huge gamble to go short for me. There are some top end bows at 36+- ATA but the price is crazy. Parts for used hoyts & pse not easy to get outside of usa. Hence mybo origin or w&w shadow. Great to hear about the quality on the mybo. I'll be collecting a revolution 40" (used) for my target setup as parts are available long term. Really excited to get it 😁 I don't care if it's used, it's gonna be amazing. Shame they are too heavy for a field style bow, even in 35/37 they are pretty weighty. Thanks for the information, really appreciated!
@austinrhubarb3 ай бұрын
@queef3057 .... You shared some good points there mate. Still being relatively new to all of this, I forgot about the parameter of string angle and how much that would change between our relative DL's and AtA's. Interestingly, during my early usage of my Bear, I did experience a derail during a release. Thankfully, it still sent the arrow to the target, so the energy was managed enough to not damage the bow. It was down to poor holding form on my part, something I have now fixed. But it just goes to show how even for my relatively short 28" draw, a short axle to axle (and thus increased string angle) can be potentially more problematic. Good chat buddy 👍

The difference between Mybo and the chinese companies is I know that Mybo would stand behind their product if you had any kind of issue, needed a spare part or a change of limbs for poundage. They have a website in English with a telephone number, business address and email. So anything you might want to ask, you could get an answer one way or another. Not like some of the far east companies who may well be making stuff on contract for the big US brands but they aint providing the warranty and support for those or their own products.

like your reviews ,are you going to do a full one on this bow ,,i am looking at this mybo 30/40 lb or the pse lazer ,at 30/40 lb for indoor shooting ,as similar priced bows ,also a bit of though on the sanlinda hero x 10 ,same 30/40 lb ,you gave this a good review ,so do others , but nothing on the origin other than merlins own self reviews ,been out 7 odd years no reviews ,strange ?,, thoughts from all, welcome,, thanks
@jonedwards70193 жыл бұрын
One thing I would caution about Sanlida etc. is although they offer a lot for the money, and I don't doubt the Hero X10 is a fantastic bow, if something goes wrong and you need to buy spare parts then they can be difficult to source. I know this from experience, unfortunately. As Mybo is made in the UK I would feel entirely confident that as long as Merlin are still going, they'd be able to replace anything on it that may go wrong during the "reasonable" lifetime of the bow. PSE I'm sure, like all the other big brands, will also stand behind their product. While getting a Chinese bow can get you something far higher spec'd for your money than you'd get from one of the US/UK companies, their weakness is lack of after sale support. For indoor use, even a cheap, theoretically "low spec" bow can be used to great effect in the hands of a good archer. I'd think getting one that feels good and that you can enjoy shooting would be the best way to go.

@@oldsteamer4251 Hi Vince, it's funny you mention the Prodigy - that's the bow I have (a Kinetic branded version of it) and unfortunately one of the limbs is starting to splinter now. Never dry fired by me, it just seems to have happened, maybe at some point it's had a knock or something. I've been trying to get a replacement limb ordered but the UK dealers I've contacted have so far drawn a blank on getting parts. It was a nice bow to shoot while it lasted. I guess I could try Sanlida directly although I'm not holding my breath they would be too helpful. I actually got it stupidly cheap three years ago, so I guess I've had fair value out of it. On the other hand if I'm spending £600+ on a bow, I'd want it to last for many years. The Origin looks superb in the silver, and honestly, that's one of the things that's drawing me to it over the PSE 👍

Hi Steven, you've shot and seen a LOT of bows and I think you know your stuff. In the UK the Mybo Origin, and the PSE Lazer (which I think are my top two choices at the moment) sell for a similar price. Do you have any opinions about one versus the other as a "entry level" target bow? The PSE is longer, and seems to have more adjustment (more weight adjustment range for example). The Mybo on the other hand, just looks higher quality, as you said, they aren't cost cutting, even though the Origin is sold at a very reasonable price. Would you go for one over the other?

The origin is their entry level compound, and their Revolution replaced the Edge as their top end bow. I personally have the Wave X recurve riser, which is affordable, but IMO much better quality than the Kinetics and stuff. They're very open about design decisions, and they offer loads of colors and adjustability on their bows. The revolution actually has adjustable letoff built into one module.
