Hey Steve, I personally own the Lazer, Citation, Perform-X, and the Supra Focus for 3D shooting. All are great, but my best scores are with the Lazer. Draw and release cycle is so smooth. PSE designed this bow RIGHT!

I’ve been looking to get into target archery and was looking for a good bow that won’t break my wallet. I hunt and use a 2013 black color Mission Ballistic. The Lazer falls into what I look for in a bow.Good price, good looks (except for the name decal on the limbs), good build and you can’t beat PSE’s warranty. I love watching your reviews. The best part for me is watching the reaction on your face when you shoot the bow for the first time. It’s genuine and tells a lot about how the feels to you. I’ve watched this Lazer video about eight times and I just ordered the bow in the black cherry color. Thank you. You make great product reviews. Now off to watch how to set up a target bow; learn about target sights and scopes with lenses and what stabilizers do I need. Thank, Andy

I really like your reviews Steven. I'm in the U.S. and just ordered this bow from Lancaster. I have a bow Madness 34 and couldn't remember the poundage on it so thank you for pointing out the serial number thing. I hope the draw cycle on this Laser isn't to much for me. I'm getting old. PSE had a laser flight years ago and I shot one in 3d tournaments local. It wasn't fast but was the smoothest bow I ever shot. Won several with it.

I shot this bow for the 1st time today and was very impressed with it. One thing not mentioned in the vid or the comments is that it feels much lighter than the Supra (or sorry if I missed it Steve). I appreciate the light weight making it better for adding stabilizers, and a sight. Even shooting without a stab, the vibration was nil, and has a very satisfying "thunk" when the arrow is released. At one point when trying this bow I accidently relaxed too much when I was at the end of the draw cycle and rather than it ripping my arm off I was able to easily recover my draw after a few inches travel. I was planning on a Supra for my next bow, but now for sure I will be getting this instead.

Nice review; as usual. Agree with you, it is a very nice bow and for me as beginner easy to handle. Use a hinge release with it. I’m a recurve shooter and start in addition with compound now. My ProShop here in Tokyo offered a Training Lab and provided a Lazer as rental bow. Since I can’t really compare with other models; take it with a grain of salt. During the last indoor training session (the 3rd one) on 8m I shot 588 (out of 600). This weekend we go out on 30m. The only little downside is that I prefer a 40” bow as the string will have a better angle for the nose anchor and don’t need to move my head into the string. But that’s not the fault of the Lazer. Waiting for my Supra Focus XL LD to be delivered. But if my wife would start archery that would be a bow I would recommend her; as she is a bit smaller.

Late reply, but I guess the info might be useful to some. They have a draw weight table for all their recent bows on their web site. The Lazer allows for 10 turns out maximum, which equals a 25% range - i.e. the 60 lb bow can be wound down to 45 lbs, or the 40 lb version of the bow can be wound down to 30 lbs.

during 2020, i did some serious bow shopping to try to determine what would best work for me as a "just-getting-started-bow". since i'm not one to buy the cheapest item on the market, and i can't afford the most expensive, coupled with the fact that i am totally new at archery, i found several decent models coming in around $500 with probably the elite ember being possibly my top choice. unfortunately, it seems supply was/is very limited across the board and i could never find a dealer that had, in stock, at least 2 of the several brands of bows that i am interested in, so i was never able to do a comparison test to see which is best for me. that being said, you mention this PSE being a bow for the "budget" minded and i think you also mentioned "beginners" in conjunction with the LAZER. in my opinion, as a begninner, i would NEVER spend $1,000(us) on a "beginner's bow" no matter how good they are, especially when you have quality competition selling their starting bows around $400-600(us) like the elite ember and several of the mission brand bows. to me, the PSE LAZER is more of an intermediate/advanced priced bow, NOT a beginner's priced bow. i guess what i'm trying to say is that PSE really missed the mark with their price point of this bow, because as a beginner, as i had mentioned, $400-600 is what i consider a valid quality entry level. if i was upgrading, i wouldn't even consider the PSE LAZER, i would look more into those bows costing slightly more (ex, the $1500-2000[us] range). anyway, great vid! thanks for the info.

Only broadly speaking, at least here in Australia. In Aus and Europe, the Specialist 2 is 25-30% more expensive than the Lazer, so it's not really competition for budget conscious archers. In fact, Steven sells the Supra Focus for only about $50 more than the Specialist 2, so if the Bowtech is real competition, then the Supra would be as well.
