@timdunn2257 don't be too sure of that! I worked for Mcdonald Douglas and Boeing in Long Beach, California, as a Surface and Structure Mechanic. I saw things that would make you walk before flying. There are so many people that 'go out' to lunch. Lunch being 2 or 3 beers and maybe smoke a joint. Then go back to 'work' and continue building an aircraft that flies 7 MILES off of the ground! I'm glad I got laid off when I did. I went into Quality Assurance working for a Boeing vendor. At least the parts I inspected and bought off were correct. What they did with them at Boeing, at that point, not my problem. I refuse to fly on any aircraft!

We bought a new Forrest River Puma in 2020. Within one year it had to be sent back to the manufacturer for a complete teardown and rebuild. But, the manufacturer said it was the dealers responsibility, and the dealer claimed it was the manufacturer's responsibility. We finally had to threaten to sue. You name it. Water heater dumping carbon monoxide into the cabin. Toilet leaking at base. Several water lines leaking. Shower pan split down the middle. Wallpaper peeling off. Trim falling off inside and out. Screws just simply backing out of their holes inside and out. Bolts popped off the tongue jack. Frame has had several recalls over complete faulures at welded joints, sometimes near axles. Outdoor speakers failed. DVD player stopped working. Air conditioner stopped working. Three weeks later we got it back. Everything replaced or fixed. BUT. A year later, the slide out won't run out completely. There's a bulge developing in the metal siding on the outside top middle above the slide-out. The plumbing is leaking again. The outside trim they replaced is gone while towing, screws are backing out again. Air conditioner stopped working after one trip. No one wants to fix it, again. So I take it to places that have RV shows and give free tours, showing the horrible manufacturer fails, I show them pictures of the previous failures, before the "rebuild". If I can stop just one family who is going to spend $30,000 or more on these doorstops with wheels, I'll feel vindicated. NEVER BUY A FOREST RIVER PRODUCT, YOU'LL REGRET IT IMMEDIATELY!

We’re in a Prowler for 2.5 years, living in. The toilet was installed incorrectly, rotting the decking. Kitchen faucet leaked, hoses not tight. Other little nitpicks that I was able to fix myself. Oh, dining table pole bases had to be refastened among other little things. Since this is a FEMA owned trailer, they were good about maintenance. We’re also on our third a/c in 2.5 years. Junk. The stove/oven everyone uses is also junk.

I ended up buying a Brinkley because of their quality. I’m sure that there will be some issues with it since it’s a new company building a new RV, but I’m sure they will take care of any problems that arise from any build issues. FINALLY!!! A KZbin influencer that's got the stamina and courage to call it like it really is. The new RVs are pitiful and suffer from the same malady that has plagued many industries after the recent historical pandemic and supply chain meltdowns. Choices of building materials including the support frames, cabinets, plumbing, electrical and slides are so pathetic that it's embarrassing. Anyone with the slightest concept of house building, and common sense maintenance will stay far away until manufacturers improve to the pre 2000's level and ultimately sorted out.

No, sadly this has been happening for decades already! When you work on these things you see things that make your head spin! In the past they didn't have the cheap, unstable materials they have now! It took a long time for a water leak to ruin the wood and rare its head where you see it! Now this process can happen in months! Some materials are lighter and extremely better like AZDEL, but the bonding process still can cause delamination issues from production. RV's have never been as good or followed standards as well as home building! But quality in each is slipping even if standards have gotten better!

From the cabinets to the interior it's just a beautiful RV. I'm not seeing that quality anymore. Sure we've had some issues but they have been minor and fixable and I have to say jayco was awesome! The observations you have on these RVs sadly applies to homes belonging to my new neighbors in north Texas in new $1million 3500 sq ft + homes. Junk cabinetry with solid surface tops and expensive fixtures. Not total junk but a far lesser grade of most materials than used in the home I built in late 90s. I have a living quarter horse trailer built in 98 and it has cabinets made from 3/4 plywood with hardwood veneer surface. Screwed and glued together with screws hold hinges securely after it has been towed more than 100k miles. The particle board and OSB materials don't hold screws in RVs or in homes over time.

You are a breath of fresh air! Honesty, what a concept! To lead with honesty, integrity, quality, and open to suggests, this is the approach that works! Brinkley, thank Gos for Brinkley, because now, you have what works, you can still make money, and build a quality unit! Does Brinkley make mistakes, you bet they do, the difference being what they do about it! Pre - Brinkley, the only quality brand that existed was Forest River and the Palomino div.,(I might be spelling that wrong?), and their Pause units! Yes, it is an off road camper, but not restricted to, but in addition to it, you have the choice of off roading, or regular camping at a camp site, you can not expect anything but quality from on end to the other. These companies show us, the consumer, that they can build a better unit, and still stay competitive! You are absolutely right, stop buying junk, demand better! Happy camping!

I would like to make a comment. We purchased our SnowRiver (made by Northwood RV-same as Arctic Fox) 2016 in 2017. We camp 5 months in the winter in BC at a ski hill (temperatures went to -37 this year). It took up about 5 years of research comparisons to finally pick this trailer that met our needs and price point was amazing for a brand new rig. It is about 32 feet toe to tail. I will say with multiple trips across Canada and States this trailer has been a champ. There has been no issues with its construction, unfortunately, Northwood has discontinued this line. The only thing that we do need fixing are a couple of windows that have developed air pockets and have fogged up a bit. There are no leaks at all. We have completed a few mods for additional winterizing (extra insulation, etc.) This trailer is of such a high quality that they rarely are up for re-sale. It will be worth replacing these two windows as I have no desire to purchase another one. Our friends purchased a Grand Design Reflection two years ago and have had many initial purchase option mistakes and interior construction issues, the craftmanship skill set has a lot to be desired. There does not seem to be a level of pride in workmanship. We will hang on to our true four season trailer, it is a winner. Thank you for your comments, I very much agree with your analysis. 👍🇨🇦

The reason Northwoods and Arctic Fox are built better is because they are built in Oregon. Not built in Indiana by all the crack heads. During COVID when the RV manufacturers were pumping out units at warp speed they couldn't hire enough help. The manufacturers were so hardup for help one of their incentives to come to work for us was "we don't drug test". Keep buying the crap and they will keep building it.

I purchased a new 2022 29 foot low end travel trailer to use as a temporary office for my business. It sat outside for about 8 or 9 months, them moved into a garage. It never sees the road and is not being used any more, but has a leak under the bathroom sink and the last time I was in it the wood between the fridge and stove looks like it's swelling, so it must have another leak somewhere. I live in Canada and virtually all of the RVs sold here come from the US. I retired in 2018 and purchased a new Winnebago travel trailer and new F-150. The travel trailer looked really nice, but the quality was lacking. We had it for a couple of years and the hot water heater quit after a few uses. I repaired it and it wasn't long before the decals started to peel on the front and back; the side ones looked OK. The interior faucets looked nice, but were made extremely cheap. The toilet was made out of cheap plastic that squeaked and moaned. The wiring workmanship was verry sloppy, nothing was tidy looking or placed in wire loom. There were lots of screws rolling around and sawdust behind cabinets, etc. I fixed everything but I was concerned that some major issues might happen that would be costly to repair so I sold the truck and trailer. The quality of the truck wasn't all that great either. Due to Civid, I got most of my money back. It was very disappointing. If this product would have been made in China, people would be complaining about "cheap Chinese junk" nonstop. In my situation, the wheels, chassis, tires, windows, etc. were all made in China and worked great. It is unlikely that I will ever buy an RV again, if so, it would probably be an import.

Things are a little bit different in the HDT world. Truck stops are the go to parking. In NV. They have alot of wide spots for truck parking. But I'll be enjoying a 450 square foot home.and I can carry 45,000lbs of personal items. That's water 275g 1/2 cored fire wood. I have 1530 watts of solar and more to put on. Now we bought the trailer when we were still trucking for a living. So the trailer was payed for.

I hate to say this but......The RV industry needs to be regulated, just like the Automotive industry. They need to be franchises also. Disagree. Most industries are already over regulated. How about the consumer being allowed to make bad decisions? How about the consumer being better educated? Government regulation will cause a price increase of 20% or more across the board, pricing many out of the market, reducing sales, reducing volume and increasing prices another 20% due to reducing economies of scale. Those who want more regulation are ignorant of economics and don't mind government controlling their lives instead of using their minds.

I’m a 30 year 5th wheel guy and I’m on my fifth 5th wheel and my 3rd new one. I bought my last one in 2016 to be my last through retirement. I had zero issues with my first two new purchases aside from routine items that wear and tear. I’m most disappointed in my last and most expensive purchase that has cost me a bundle in after i bought it beginning with some expensive repairs within the two year mfg warranty. I had 3 separate tire blowouts on a trip early in that I paid for and ended up replacing all 4 with good US mfg name brand tires. I can’t take mine out on one trip without screws popping out or something falling off. I’m handy and can fix a lot of it. Service after sale is a joke. They sell them but don’t want to work on them unless you book an appointment weeks ahead and leave your trailer with them for a three weeks. I have a retired RV tech that does work for me but it’s still a hassle. Right now, I have a boondock water supply issue that he can’t solve and he’s a month into a blown cooler pack issue on the frig. Parts are expensive, hard to get, etc. in summation, I wish I kept my last trailer and I’d have $50,000 to spend on tow vehicle, fuel and trips. I can highly recommend United States Warranty as they have treated me fairly on my 10 year warranty. I can highly recommend Coach Net roadside plan as they perform as advertised. I also highly recommend Progressive insurance for RVs. I had a leaky roof issue. I’m an insurance guy and figured they would have denied or only paid for patch repair but they paid for an entire RV Armor roof job. My final recommendation is RV Armor roof in Denton, TX. They have a permanent, hail proof, leak proof product. In my opinion, these mfg installed membrane roofs are pure crap. You can develop small water intrusions in multiple places and not notice the damage until way later. These new trailers are slapped together junk and way inferior to my last new purchase late 90’s. I started to trade mine off but didn’t want to shell out $60K difference. I’ll just hope mine hangs together through my retirement and keep throwing money at it. Finally, I’ll recommend older used Cummins diesel trucks. Mine is a 2004 with over 200,000 miles on it and aside from maintenance, batteries and Michelin tires, I’ve spent $3,400 between a new front end suspension and new AC system. Runs like a top and still looks sharp.

We have had five brand new RV’s over the years. We had lots of things wrong with our first one, a 1979 but once the problems were fixed in the beginning, it was a pretty solid travel trailer. As the years have gone by, the quality just kept getting worse. Our most recent one is a 2013 which we bought brand new. Tons of troubles. The dealer and manufacturer felt no compulsion whatsoever to have to fix anything and were mostly pretty rude. Once you drive it off the lot, it’s YOUR PROBLEM!!!! The outside of fifth wheel started delaminating at around four years old. Tough!!!! Your problem!!! Now, it’s probably worthless because no one wants an rv that looks like sh!t on the outside. The bottom line is, they do it BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!!! 😡😡😡😡

After my fifth wheel spent 6 months in the shop for the 49 warrenty issues I decided to fix everything myself because the repair work was so bad. Pretty certain I could pass the rv tech exam without taking any course. Also I have done a lot of work on friends rvs to help them out. You cant even imagine what I found. Some things on RVs are supposed to be done by licensed tradesmen such as gas and electrical but it appears that is not happening and there should also be quality control but it is so much worse than what you would expect to find in a house or car. Weather sealing of roofs and windows appears to be the most common issue, no quality control. Rodent issues due to massive holes everywhere also very common. I say put it all on youtube and let the chips fall where they may.

I rented a bunkhouse travel trailer and that is a great way to see how good or bad a trailer is. If a trailer can survive a rental business then it’s well made. My trailer couldn’t pop out the slide with the house battery. Shore power only. The wall panels were repaired with staples because they took a beating and looked like crap. The storage drawer under the dinette seats broke and could only be accessed from the top. Could slide out. Bathroom shower head holder broke off. Stabilizer jacks were fasted with self taping screws not nuts and bolts and were rusted and bent. Good news was the hot water heater worked great. Fridge worked enough to pass for a fridge and the ac worked. Now I know why the off road trailers cost so much. They are built to survive off road! That costs money

I had a Flagstaff that would fill up with dust when traveling dirt roads. When you got to your location it had to be cleaned completely. Then, same on the way out. I called Flagstaff and was told, "that's the nature of the beast....nothing we can do about it. I was able to fix the issue myself by installing foam backer rod along the length of the slideout where it would seal against the trailer. SInce then I have purchased a Jayco micro that I do love. However, it is advertised as "Arctic Edition"...RIGHT...I upgrade the air to 15,000 btu and it can barely keep up. Same with the heating. Apparently there is little to no insulation in the top or bottom, yet it is advertised as "Arctic" You would die in the Arctic. My biggest gripe with RV manufacturers is their warranty, which equals none. You have to have the trailer repaired where it was purchased and the warranty is handled by each component manf. That sucks and should be addressed by Congress. It is an industry that has completely run amuck with little to no consumer protection.

I think that as far as towables are concerned, Airstream and Oliver also make some pretty decent, well constructed rigs. In the Class A and Super C section, you really don't start seeing top shelf quality and construction until you get into the $750,000 MSRP neighborhood.

Thanks for your in site! I gotta agree. Been watching a lot of the broken frame video's, and I was considering replacing my old 2002 Cougar. I won't be looking at anything past 2018. Love the Brinkley, but way outta my price range.

I have read other reports on Brinkleys and they Are to have sub par plastic fittings on their water lines. Our GD had plastic fittings everywhere and we travel with an assortment of spare parts.

@@MyBucketListDay We are planning to purchase model Z3610 within the year. Love the floor plan. We were also looking at a Montana High Country 377fl we really like the floor plan of this one, but after watching your video I am not sure.

@@jasonhansen3379 the Z3610 is a beautiful Rig. The montana is good looking and yes the floor plan is nice. However, the fit and finish and the quality of the materials and components on the Brinkley is far superior. Let me know when your ready to buy, I might be able to get you a few bonuses on the purchase of a Brinkley.

@@MyBucketListDay I will do that,y name is Jason, btw. We are now set with another dilemma, the length needs to be 40 ft or less for the resorts we stay at. Quality is must of course. I have owned two campers and it is a bummer to have to fix things when we are on vacation. We want a fifth wheel with a bunk house and a washer dryer hook up. Can't be longer than 40'.
