My friend had a Swift and there was some sound coming when switching the AC on. He visited 2 different Maruti service centres and both the centres pointed out some major issues and quoted a price ranging from Rs.30,000 and above. Before giving to the service center he took the car to an outside AC mechanic and he found some leaves were blocked in the ac unit and touching the fan. He simply removed it and didn’t take any money. So I suggest before giving your car to the service centers to rectify some major issues, take some suggestions from outside mechanics

I completely agree with you Sirji, I follow all the points suggested by you. Recently i have serviced my car Hyundai Creta 2021 model diesel for 30,000 km. I was asked for break greasing, Engine flushing, throttle body cleaning, etc. i denied for all extra services apart from things recommended by Hyundai. My service bill was around ₹8500 including synthetic engine oil for around ₹4000 and ₹2500 for labour charges. I usually either drive in city in traffic or long trips so I prefer synthetic oil for better engine performance. I have done my balancing and alignment from MRF authorised shop for around ₹800-900 including some 150gm weight. If consumers are aware about what’s required and what’s not they can save a lot of money.

AC me Gas Khatam ho gayi, Hyundai bola ac ka 14k ka koi part kharab ho gaya. Bahar se check karwaya only Gas empty thi sab theek tha now all fine. Looting Hyundai !!!!

fully agree sir. I was saved once from such scam. had gear stucking issue for my brezza after running 35k kms and when i visited service centre they asked me to get changed full gear and clutch assembly of approx rs 14 -15k cost in next servicing that was due in few months. but i didn't do it. and only got normal servicing done in next few months. surprisingly the issue was half resolved with it and other half i resolved by myself with minor adjustment of gear changing style. by slowly bringing gear to middle every time and then applying the desired gear. now i have got used to the habit of gear changing that way and car is running without any gear issues since last 2 years. 😊

ekdam correct point. mere paas 2004 santro xing hai, 2005 mein hi rear bumper nikal gya tha, car road side pe thi to koi laga gya tha. New car thi to agency mein pucha, he said ki 5000 ka new bumper lagega, n iske lock tut gye hai...Thoda sochne k baad mana kr diya hamne, phir usine kuch soch k 10 Rs ka jugad kiya. 2 drill kiye body mein, n screw laga k tight kr diya bumper ko...N aaj tak wo bumper wahi hai....we still drive that car.

He is best and provides very honest useful information to car users. This is exactly what we face every time during servicing, and we end up paying without arguing on these parameters. Synthetic oil, brakes cleaning, AC disinfecting, etc. all these things they make up to charge. I just faced in Maruti service.

I have very old santro working in exceelent condition. I was getting some sound while turning and wanted to take his opinion and went to santro dealer and they said you have to change the steering wheel. Good One.... main reason behind these types of "MYTHS" or "DEALER SCAMS", is fearful customer, who is technically not aware of such BASIC things. Dealers takes advantages on name of "SO CALLED SERVICE" and fearful customers get agree to do so. I know one incident of sister in law's Celerio oil change done in FIRST SERVICE by maruti dealer (in reality oil would have never been changed, as it has to be changed after 10K, as per service manual). Easier to TRAP female customers to such fearful service scams.

Even I get my tyres aligned and balanced with rotation at every 5k km at known tyre shop. It all costs Rs600 and the owner is a good friend and gives me good feedback. Recently got my tyres changed from there as well. I know a good aftermarket workshop as well and rely on it for any checks and quick service.

What you told about suspension, the same thing my Honda ASS told about Brio. Estimate 30k. I am still drinking it since 1.5 years with same sound and no suspension issues. I will still go and get it check at FNG for exactly the part which needs repair/replacement.

True last service I was charged, Upholstery cleaning, underbody coating, wheel alignment, Door Trim, clutch overhaul. Raised complaint mail to Maruti and got refund of Amount INR 9200.

In 3rd service at 10000km of my car, service guy was asking to replace AC filter. As per service manual it needs to be changed at 40k KM. So unless there is problem, no need to change things earlier.

Honda dealer called me to get my two years old jazz for services as a service camp is going on.. And that I will be offered 20% discount on the servicing. But when final bill came up it was shocking. All filters were changed including ac filter. And the discount was only 5%. And honda executive said there was no discount camp going on. They give duties to female employees who call again and again. You are trapped if the car requires yearly maintenance.

Just got my Brv serviced from my local mechanic for the 3 Rd time in 2 yrs Every 10k kms. Odo 55k kms when bot 60 k major service done at some 3 Rd party showroom spares costed 5 k and labor 5 k. After that I came back to my regualr mech who charges only for actual works. Today got the 90k service done Oil , oil filter , brake pads (from federal moghul brand 1700) 4 ltrs idemitsu semi synt 1800 and an oil filter 250 rupees Labour + wash 1600 only. All in all my servicing cost is below 5-6 k every major service . Only some replacement parts cost me more when needed. Tyres last yr 24 k Swing arms last yr 4800 rupees That's it . 35 k kms done and the above are the exps for my Honda Brv diesel. And once I happnd to ask about doing engine flush he outright told me not needed if ever needed he will let me.know. Hope all get to some good local mechs and have a good rapport with them. Sir thank you for ur knowledge as always. One small question Had anyone got aftermkt cruise control on Honda Brv in India Pls do reply sir if it has been undertaken by you or your know PPL.

Authorised service centers are like money pits, they will recommend you all cosmetic type of work which has nothing to do with yr car. Teflon coating, antirust, engine lamination, I even heard something new from Maruti that is wind screen polishing ( ha ha) what is that ? As explained in this video pl read yr service manual prior any servicing and one will know when to change the coolant or brake fluid etc. If needed go to a reputed local garage where you can supervise the servicing yourself.

I booked honda elevate from two dealers, when they called I asked them if I can purchase insurance from outside but both of the dealers said they can’t sell the car if I don’t take insurance from their agent in the showroom. I had bad service experience from tata. I went for 4th service. I decided to keep an eye on what mechanic is doing. It was second time mechanic tried to pour engine oil from opened container. 2nd 3 bottles of coolant was added but bill was made for 4. I am very upset with their service because it was not first time. I will get it serviced from outside from now and my next car definitely won't be of any indian manufacturer.

Recently my 2022 swift has to go for 10k service and the recommended engine oil grade is 0w16 , but just as curiosity I asked my service advisor from where i service my vehicle he said they dont have 0w16 engine oil but instead they have 5w40 engine oil which cost 4000rs , whereas 0w16 oil cost only 1575 rs . Thefore he was forcing me to put 5w40 instead of company recommended viscosity which is cheaper in price , so i purchase it from outside and took it for oil change.

Lol.. either you are making stuff up or he is lying. Why would they don’t have regular engine oil in a service center. I have been to different maruti service centers because of my travel, and almost all of them are consistent and also maruti is strict about using recommended products unless you ask them for upgraded oil. Maruti will get report from each service center regarding average service cost from each center and review if the service charges are constantly more from from a specific center.

Hi, I have a 2009 i10. I bought from a friend in kolkata at 23.5k kms. Now it is ~28k. The car is in pristine condition and i drive it daily. Recently, i am seeing that the pickup has gone down a bit and warrants some investment in parts, oils and brakepads. In kolkata the facility of acquisition of fitness certificate is still available. Do you suggest that I go for it or think of changing it? I have no problems in driving an old car. I am not bored of it. Please suggest. Thanks.
