After a two year refit Nick Ward invited MCB to take a look at Swift II, his 1982 Twister 28. And what a stunning yacht it now is. Video was shot in the Isle of Wight, Southampton Water, Warsash and a special clip sent through from Hells Mouth in North Wales, where Nick and a changing crew are sailing around the UK with a gang from the Old Gaffers. Sit back and enjoy the full and exclusive story of what is now Britain's Best Twister. Please share and please respect all copyrights

Compass 24 have started making those alcohol stoves again. Just so you know! At present they’re not at all helpful about supplying spares though. But I’m working on them!

I had one of these in Australia. Bought her in Darwin and left July 1st for Port Moresby in PNG. It was at the height of the tradewind season. Non stop headwinds 20/30 kts. Took me 28 days non stop to make 1200 nautical miles. I was like a wild animal by the time I arrived. Beating through Torres Strait reefs can't be described. Spent the next few weeks each night at a bar called the Pink Pussy-cat. The rest I leave to your imagination!! That was 1986...... a mid life crisis. Port Moresby is one of the world's wildest towns. Look it up. The boat was called Mijo and had a Hasler self steering gear.

You're not scared of adventure. That sounds like a horrendous sail. And I've got to ask, why Port Moresby? I've heard that it's like the wild west, there.

@@davidbrayshaw3529 I used to travel through there to Lae and it always looked like a crazy exciting place to stay for awhile. Turned out to be correct. I got on very well with the locals in the streets. They showed me their culture, it was enlightening to say the least.

Hi Nick, good to see you are still doing ‘boating Stuff’ we have moved from sea to canals, living on a 62’ narrow boat with a Gardner engine, but Adrian still misses the sea at 76 years old. Great film, Adrian & Myra White x

Lovely looking boat, I think I’d be worried that all those gadgets would add up to a lot of maintenance and less sailing time… that said it’s given me some food for thought regarding my 28.5’ renovation project. Thanks for sharing.

That's a clever door/table idea. Might use iron rod instead of rope. Also use it as a door reinforcement. Really patent worthy.

Compass 24 sell those meths cookers. They are a remake of the original Orego but other than the label they are exactly the same. I got one last year. Bullet proof and best of all no gas. But they are not cheap……….

I think a few twister owners may take umbrage with the title. Not least because she's not exactly a twister ;-) She is stunning though.

@@junk_rig_sailor1698 No she's a Twister but not built to Twister plans. Hence not officially a Twister when built as you would have needed to pay for the plans and a licence to build one boat. Home built to the builders drawings which was his interpretation of a twister. You can see it in the sheer line and Transom which are not quite standard. But she is accepted in the association these days so she is a Twister as far as the association are concerned. I read her described as a Twister with a Twist in a Cruising Association magazine several years ago. Original name was Suda II. It's a moot point as there are a few around that were built unlicensed and we don't have official measurements for the class. Both yours and mine could be considered out of class because of our rig, mine being a meter taller than standard and yours being some ancient Chinese system 🙂.
