Really love this channel!!! Love the sense of the owners you interview!!! As a 18 feet sailboat owner I hate how nowadays people think that if you sail with less than 40 feet ship you're in trouble. Congratulations Nick and Christobel, you have a very nice classic!!!

It's rare for boats that size to leave the marina but I know what you mean. Reading reviews in yachting mags 25ft is considered a small boat nowadays.

Interesting boat. Interesting compromise. Looks very roomy for LOA, yet a very good sailor.

A beautiful boat and the fibreglass ones that came shortly after it almost copied it I would say. It's very much like the trident 24 in shape don't you think. The wife is thinking along my lines. Once I'm too old too pull sheets it's going to have to be a diesel motorboat. Assuming diesels are still alowed then lol

How old has a sail boat got to be to be a classic. I bought my first sail boat a 1964 international folkboat. She was built in south of England gravesend made out of fibreglass 3 &half ton clinker. Great first sailing boat

This is how the Committee of the BCYC class classics for their membership. The criteria for membership include: Hull material of wood, steel or iron Design date of 1970 or before A minimum overhang rule Usually the build date is before 1970 but some wooden yachts have been accepted which have been built after this date, where the design date criterion has not been breached. The club is named the British Classic Yacht Club, and many of the boats were built by the great British boatyards, but being built in Britain or designed by a Briton, have never been criteria for membership. The definition of a Classic Yacht is subjective but includes many of the most beautiful boats still sailing; some of which have great racing records whilst others represent design milestones in the development of sailing yachts. As for the Folkboat, the owners of all those old wooded ones know they are classics. Hope that helps

Depends which jurisdiction you are in. For example Cowes Classic week has very different criteria from Antigua Classic week. Not all definitions are to do with age, some are more concerned with hull and keel form or if they are keeping with the 'spirit' of some of the more traditional designs. Also some jurisdictions will allow old GRP designs as well.

Very beautiful Indeed. What about the average price of a vessel of this kind second hand?
@markturner42195 жыл бұрын
Between five and eight thousand pounds depending on condition and fit out.
@maxflight7774 жыл бұрын
George, it’s not the purchase price that’s relevant! The mooring, and maintenance costs are the factor in boat ownership!
