In October of 1978, on the cusp of his 21st birthday, Michael Myers qualified to be transferred to a step down locked facility. The decision was determined by a board of doctors at Smith's Grove Sanitarium. It was a decision they would forever regret.
Picking up moments after the end of John Carpenter's original classic, this new short follows Michael Myers on his walkabout, before his eventual capture.

A WORD FROM CHRIS
So before you even ask, let me just lay it all out there. My short follows the most recent timeline, ie- Halloween 2018's new continuity. I know that being a fan of Halloween lately comes with a very complex choose your own adventure feel, but the Cult of Thorn and the Sister Saga have DEFINITELY been done to death by fans. And since there (to date) aren't many fan films in the new continuity, I figured why not?
It's been 8 years since my last Halloween fan film (not counting TNEOH2), ironically also titled- MYERS : Rise of the Boogeyman. For the longest time, I had wanted to make another Halloween short, and for a while, I was set on making a sequel to my fan film Halloween Season, but the timing was never quite right and it just didn't happen.
One of my biggest setbacks was getting a good mask. Yes, I've had masks in the past, but none of them were truly fantastic. So I set a rule for myself, no more Halloween shorts till I could score a good mask. I really can't believe it took me 8 frickin years though. But I managed to get one.
The mask, if you wish to know is a KIRK 75 mask from Trick or Treat studios. I saw their actual Myers mask and I did not care for the sculpt, but the KIRK 75 looked pretty authentic. So I got it, then customized it myself. I did the standard- removed the eyebrows and sideburns, widened the eye sockets, spray painted it white, darkened the hair and then weathered it. The whole process took less than a couple of hours.
Filming took place in one day, beginning with the doctor sequence and ending with Michael walking off at the end. Definitely one of my easier film shoots.
Because I was unable to secure a doctor's office of any sort (and believe me, I tried), I was forced to improvise, and converted my living room into the set. It cost me less than 60 bucks, which was a hell of steal when compared to renting a day office for $25.00 an hour.
The goal of this short was to focus on Michael as a death artist. The guy for lack of a better description, is really creative when it comes to killing people, and he definitely enjoys it. So I wanted him to really take his time in this short. And he definitely does. My ultimate goal was to drag out those deaths for as long as possible, without making them look cheesy. A lot of movies and fan films either go over the top gore and it comes off looking fake, or super quick and there is no emotional connection to it.
Extending those deaths, with little to no music, and keeping them as simple as possible (in my opinion) really puts you in the room with them, feeling every minute of the horror. Hopefully you feel the same way.
