A WORD FROM CHRIS
This is the 3rd chapter in my MYERS series, and for the first time, I had a little more room for creativity. In the first two shorts, I was bound to the established continuity (thanks to the 2018 film) that Michael was captured that night and had a very small body count. But to see him go from how he was in 1978 to what he became in 2018, that math didn't add up for me.
Sure Michael is supernatural to some extent. But the brutality seen in the 2018 film was 100 times more than the original movie and I really wanted to show that there was a logical evolution to it all.
Having Michael literally being fed victims over the course of God knows how long (for me) seemed like a really cool way to bridge the gap, and show how his pathology grew more and more savage.
In the first two shorts, I had to fudge the kill count and either HEAVILY imply that not all his victims died, or that some kills were not attributed to him. That definitely annoyed me. But having these new "off the books" kills was definitely a relief when it came to justifying things.
The film was shot in 2 days, 100% of it was filmed in my home. I rigged my garage to look like a standard kill room. I'm pretty sure it didn't alarm any of my neighbors. For the mask, I used a Trick or Treat Studios KIRK'75 mask, but I aged it to what I felt was a healthy halfway point between 1978 and 2018. So it's distressed, but it still hasn't completely warped in shape like it did in the newest film.
Since I was moving away from the original 1978 film into even more uncharted territory, I decided to use music from previous Halloween films of that time period, specifically H4 and H6. Since my film is set in both 1988 and 1995, it seemed the most appropriate to use themes and SFX from those installments.
The role of Dr. Loomis was effortlessly reprised by Joseph Callari. I will go on record saying he acted the crap outta that part. Chris Callaway once again returned to play Michael Myers. And if you've made it this far, SPOILER, Tom Proprofsky played a pretty damn good Dr. Sartain.
I wanted to show a clear trajectory for how Sartain got to where he was when we first met him in the 2018 film. Like seriously, what the hell was up with him? I needed answers. So this was pretty much my interpretation. I really liked the clashing of ideologies between Loomis and Sartain, regarding Michael. Loomis has closed the door on Michael, completely written him of; while Sartain sees him as a specimen begging to be studied.
