I don't think he realizes how much being white and possessing a german passport would have shielded him from hostilities and given special treatment on either side. For Palestinians, it's a chance to get their voices heard in the western world. For Israeli's, it's the diplomatic consequences of mistreatment of foreign nationals within white nations that they depend on for foreign aid.
