What happens when an Israeli Jew speaks Hebrew in Palestine? I went from Jenin to Nablus to Huwara and then back to Israel, and met some people along the way. Come along!

95% is a bit of a stretch. The reality is over 60% of Israelis seem to agree with what is being done to Gaza right now by the IDF. At the same time we can't really blame them, because many Israelis have been fed lies and propaganda about the Palestinians since they were young. As for Palestinians, you can't expect a child who grew up seeing his family members killed and oppressed by the Zionist colonizers to have any love for them. But let's pray that one day, it might actually come true.

Then I urge you now, being myself an educated, well-read (I thought) citizen of the most warmongering, colonialist power in the world, to learn about the geopolitics and history of Palestine up to the present moment in as short a time as you can, as I have deemed it almost imperative for my part to learn as much as I could in 47 days. Right now I’m listening to an excellent 18 part podcast series by a doctor of Palestinian history starting at the original populating of Palestine to the present year. So far it’s fascinating and eye-opening, but I’m not listening to get the history that’s necessary to form a clear view of the problem, that I was able to do quite rapidly just reading widely but critically for about a week. Now I’m filling in and fleshing out what I’ve learned.

Thank you.. Palestinian leaders have refused every single offer of statehood and Two-State Solution, explicitly because they oppose the existence of a Jewish state no matter what. They claim that 7 million Jewish Israelis in Israel proper, who were born there and have lived there for generations, are "an illegal occupation of 75 years" ---- and that this warrants brutal murders and endless war. And they convinced the social justice movement that this all makes sense So yes, it is a bit complicated. There is a well-funded force excessively demonizing Israel in the media to the point of being dishonest and manipulative. Iran, Qatar, and Russia are literally funding and working with Hamas.

You really inspire me Saluki, I really want to actively work for peace in the Holy Land and you help me realize that the only thing that really matters to all of us is to live in peace and to eat good food. This is the peace process, sit down, have something to eat, talk, we'll have all the time to talk politics after we've lived together some ; then we'll get up and leave, not having agreed on everything, but tomorrow is another day, where we'll do more of the same: sit down, eat, drink coffee and share stories. If we do this long enough, the people will have made peace bypassing the governments themselves. I dream of visiting all of Palestine/Israel and hope that when this war ends, we can reignite the peace process between the people.

As an English secular Jew who travels to Israel to see family regularly, I finally managed to make it to Palestine at the end of 2021. I visited Ramallah, Bethlehem and Jericho but have an appetite to visit more places, especially Nablus. I am a bit more of a 'conservative' traveller than you so not sure I would go on my own. @dougbarker2227 It’s easy and convenient for you to speak of the entire area of Palestine the same way one would speak about tribal Taliban areas during the U.S. war in Afghanistan. Are you a resident, traveler, volunteer, or someone thousands of miles away who feels informed and that’s good enough to affect the entire vernacular being used? I’ve been two out of the three of those, your language, while containing portions of truth, is inappropriate.

Brother you are an angel. Showing the world how kind and loving the Palestinians are. Alot of people are feeling alot of guilt at the moment for not standing up for the Palestinians cause. Unfortunately in the west we have all just woken up in the last 2 weeks to what is going on. Our media is so censored and our governments and media lie so badly. Pluse we have Left & right leaning News channels. So you have 2 sides to the story and both of them are racist an vulgar. It could be, but this is not necessarily the case. It looks to me that this young man masters Hebrew better than English after 4 years working in Israel. Therefore, when he has to speak in a foreign language, the words pop up faster in Hebrew than in English and that's why he answered by reflex "ken" instead of "yes".

another great video - and, as an outsider ( a Welsh-speaking Welshman) it's so interesting to see the language dynamics and socio-linguistic side - this is the kind of thing which can change, and, maybe in 20 years time there's a different language dynamic and this video, and the other ones you make will be important documents of people speaking Hebrew or no Hebrew or you speaking some Arabic etc. It's like filming Beh-Yehuda when he was speaking Hebrew to people in the late C19th and seeing the language mosaic of Israel-Palestine at the time, or how it was in other periods. I'm sure speaking Hebrew in the park in Nablus was a bit nervy - all respect to you and the Arab man. Would be interested to know if the Arabs watch Israeli Arab tv and Israeli Hebrew and listen to Hebrew music - I understand the excellent 'Fauda' series was popular in Arab countries as much as in Israel and abroad. Would also be interesting to know how the Arab men learnt Hebrew - I'm assuming there are no lessons in Hebrew in PA schools, so, just pick it up, naturally, and how easy is it for them as Arabic speakers to learn Hebrew?

Huwara has become a very dangerous place for Jews. When Hallel & Yagel Yaniv were killed in a terror attack in Feb., people in the town were handing out sweets. No houses were burned down in the revenge attacks, not a single one, there was some smoke damage to one home where soldiers evacuated a lady. The cars that were burned were stacked in a junk yard. There are probably some good people there, but they support the terrorists. Unfortunately the town is on a major highway that many Jews must travel on, so the army has to be there to stop people from being killed on the road. If there are closures, it's for a day or 2
