How on earth were you able to get close to them? This is amazing, good job keep it up.
@JuneMolloy Жыл бұрын
The guy I was with had been feeding them every day for a few years, so they trusted him. I had to dress is his smelly farm clothes so I could get close, but it was worth it!!!

Pigs are fascinating (no matter if domesticated or wild). Personally I would be as far as possible from them in nature (especially sows with piglets). But here it just seems like family picknick!

Amazing how tame they can be when you show affection. Are those guinea hogs?
@JuneMolloy5 жыл бұрын
Crimsonnaire, yes - they really are quite tame when they trust you. I had to dress in clothes owned by the doctor (the guy doing the feeding) so I wouldn't smell strange to them. They just shuffled around at my feet, paying me no attention. These are wild boar (sus scrofa) - a sounder (group) of adult females and their offspring at various ages.

How should I react if I meet wild boars by accicendt in the forest? (Sorry for my English, I'm German)
@JuneMolloy2 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is to remain calm as if you panic and start running you might spook them. Try to back away calmly and they will most probably ignore you. Mothers with young piglets can easily be spooked, so keep as far away from piglets as possible. Like most wild animals, they will only attack if they feel threatened. Hope that helps!
@KYoung-kj7hr2 жыл бұрын
@@JuneMolloy Thank you, because I also often go for walks in the forest and live in an area in Bavaria where you occasionally meet wild boars.

Soneone better keep on feeding them forever or they will die because they lose the skills to survive on their own.
@JuneMolloy5 жыл бұрын
Interesting point, Perry. As far as I am aware, this food makes up only a small portion of the boars' diet and they still forage daily for the remainder of their food. I will look into it further, though!
@WillBravoNotEvil5 жыл бұрын
There is no shortage of pigs. I suspect they're being fed to later be shot & eaten. They're also natural foragers. I've yet to see one who forgot how to root. I think your concern is without basis.
@perrypelican94765 жыл бұрын
William Bravo there was once no shortage of all the endangered species. Baby pigs follow their mothers and learn from them. If most of their food comes from humans then that’s what they will expect and every generation will be more and more dependent on us. Why are these people feeding them? Is it to fatten them up for slaughter? Strange because they are affectionate towards them. They are very smart animals.i love most animals. They are missing so much of our bull...it No egos, no jealousy, no hate, no revenge, no bigotry, etc etc, and we kill them for sport. I never understood teaching a kid to kill animals for sport. If it’s for food then I understand but for fun, it’s sick.

They will survive, boars eat anything, from nuts, corn, roots, mushrooms, fruit, leaves, they won't starve. I feed boars too, but I do not get close to them like this, I just film them with my trail cam. 🐗❤️
