Hi David and Lily, thanks for your comments, The super 7 restoration is a long project for me. I have dismantled the entire lathe as I want to do a proper bare metal restoration. Hopefully I can remember how to put it all back together. Cheers

@@albabmg I have put some photos up on the MYFORD section of Facebook if you want to have a look. Some lovely Lathe related comments and Photos on there. Also a lovely diagram of the Mark 1 clutch... Could be good if the plunger rod was free to move!! My first at £1400 is superb and very little used from 1988 when the last owner got Myfords to rebuild it. They have their faults but are superb to use. Answer is to have a Raglan 5. 1 inch bore higher height, bigger capacity and also built in Nottingham. Myfords took them over and did their 254 which is a copy of the 5. 254222 being their phone number strangely. I now have 3 Raglans the no 3 being another free from the same workshop. 11 miles away which is even more envious for some people. Just look beyond the rust!!! David and Lily.

Hi, nice restoration may I ask the make and type of paint you used.

Here in Australia I am using "White Knight" Epoxy Enamel Top Coat. The colour is "Machinery Grey" Gloss. After etch priming and High build primer I finish with 240 grit then 3 coats of the Machinery Grey Epoxy Enamel. I also add a 2K Hardener to the Machinery Grey Enamel. I purchase the 2K Hardener from my local auto paint spray supplier and add at the stated amounts shown on the instructions. Hope this helps. Cheers

May I ask what product you used for stripping the paint? Thx!

I use paint stripper. It usually comes in a gel. You can purchase the paint stripper from any Hardware or Paint store. Cheers
