Nothing wrong with the 3.73 gears enough torque to pull the tires.

The 3.73 gears aren't right for 35"+ tires. Mine runs 1700rpm at 70mph. And Ford wants close to 5k to swap gears and make it right. Mine came with a Pro Comp tuner just for tire and gear changes. It's sad Ford will void warranty if I have the gears changed by someone else. We have a few off road shops that can do it for a lot less $.

FORDOF MURFREESBORO As far as motorcraft parts you only have a 4.10 option, that would work great with the 6.2L. You'll have to go aftermarket for 4.30s that would my choice for the 5.0L. But a lot of people are happy with 4.56 for playing off road. Tuscany knew the gearing was wrong on these trucks, what other reason would they include a tuner for speedometer calibration. I've already talked to Tuscany, they're good folks, they pay for the first alignment and my dealership charges customers that don't know this.

Can you get a lower ratio then 3.73 from ford for the 5.0?

rumerboyz You'd have to call a ford dealer and talk to the parts dept. Tell them what rear end to have (i.e. 8.8 or 9.75) and they'll tell you what your options are. After market would be cheaper though.

You have to be a loyal ford customer and be friends with one of the long time salesman to get opportunities at nice ford trucks and cars. So pretty much you have to be rich and like ford alot.
