Title IX will impact and stall medical research in terrible ways. If passed, these changes will be detrimental in research (& society) that are beyond belief. Schools that don't tow the line can lose lunch money. So, school age kids who rely on meals won't get them. I cana't imagine anything more contemptible than that. In Higher Education, these proposed changes will compromise university researchers conducting domestic and international studies in oncology, Parkinson's, MS, etc. (As well as Agricultural research, veterinary, etc.). Medical and all kinds of research is prohibitively expensive. Researchers absolutely need 1). To be able to follow basic biology facts and not be compelled to lie in order to placate trans feelings; and 2). Stable access to federal dollars. Research has to have stable funding -- so much of it depends on data and biological cell lines that go back for decades. The equipment has to be maintained, etc. It can't "start and stop" on a whim. This politicization also adversely impacts researchers' trust among themselves. Will some envious researcher rat out colleagues for political and/or personal reasons? They can contact the government and state their colleague is anti-trans and discriminating. Then, that person's funding can be pulled by the government.
