It doesn't have anything to do with Celts or Viking invasions. Northen Europeans are close to each other genetically speaking. Besides, Irish an Scots barely have any celtic dna (both at around 10%), the Irish are mostly bell beaker while the scots are almost the same as the English dna wise.

I'll answer your questions : They think you Celtic because YOU ARE celtic. They just decided to put some Celtic DNA into Scandinavians and call them "Norwegians". Because technically all Scandinavians have the same DNA, so to make more difference they decided to make Swedesh - Scandinavians + finnish, Norwegian - Scandianvian + Insular Celtic, Danish - Scandianvian + Germans. So the older result is technically more accure, even though nothing change, and in reality you are 81.7 Scandinav, 13% Insular Celtic and 5.3% Finnish.

Sorry to break it to you but MyHeritage completely got crazy and they are not really giving ethnicity results anymore. Your first results were ethnicity-wise more accurate because they compared your dna to several ethnicities. The second results were results of comparing your dna to people from different nations, but not necessarily pure ethnicities, so it came out that you are 70 percent Swedish and 30 percent Norwegian, but it still doesn’t mean you aren’t 13 percent Celtic since Norwegians and Swedish can have Celtic blood
@evaldk15742 ай бұрын
I have no Celtic in my DNA, neither do I have barely any dna-matches from Ireland or the UK. I think you’re wrong, and that MyHeritage just broke down bigger ethnicities into smaller ones, then retested the spit we sent to them.
@ErdemCetin012 ай бұрын
@@evaldk1574 I don’t know if you have or do not have Celtic dna, I just pointed out the fact that Celtic is one of the ethnicities that has entered the pool of Norwegians and Swedish, along with many other European nations, so that the results alone doesn’t rule out the possibility of you having Celtic dna. Secondly, Norwegian and Swedish are not ethnicities, they are nations. Your DNA aligning 70% with Swedish and 30% with Norwegian doesn’t mean that you are a 100% Scandinavian, what it instead means is that you probably don’t have an ethnicity outside of the genetic pools of these 2 nations.
@JesusChristisgreat-pj6nd2 ай бұрын
@@ErdemCetin01 I believe you are correct 💯
@evaldk15742 ай бұрын
@@ErdemCetin01You also pointed out that the MyHeritage update now declears which nations people are from. But what really is ethnicities then? Everyone came from Africa from the getgo, and we have all evolved from there. These seperate nations (that is mostly nations that have been their seperate nation for a long time) have been seperate nations long enough for these people to have evolved into their own identity through blood. The genetic groups inside of the past ethnicities such as scandinavian also showed which regions you could be from, including different parts of different nations. MyHeritage just used to put a name to bigger groups of people, and now they seperated these groups. However, these online dna organisations have never shown 100% correct results, so you might be right about the celtic stuff. I’ve got no idea hahah
@ErdemCetin012 ай бұрын
@@evaldk1574 Ethnicities have shaped themselves through a long period isolations of folks. These long isolation periods happened through mountains, rivers etc. Ural mountains have long been a distinct line between indo-european and asiatic folks, as an example. I also am not an expert about this topic but I think it is safe to say that the distinction between Scandinavians and Celtics is rather genetic whereas the one between the Swedish and the Norwegians are in my opinion rather politic, something that has occurred through the political balances throughout the regions history. Take “French” for example: There is not a French ethnicity. They take their names from the Germanic Franconian tribes but they are also as Celtic and Italic as they are Germanic, so “French” can’t really describe a single ethnicity. Or my nation, Turkish: I scored predominantly west asian, Greek, Italian and central Asian, which is historically pretty accurate. If my V2 results will say I am 100% Turkish, it really won’t satisfy me. I also scored 2,6% Scandinavian btw :))
