Marion: I really enjoy your enthusiasm when you talk about your boys and your Jewish faith. It is wonderful to see your joy. It is very contagious! ( I am a Catholic, and find many things I can relate to) There is one Chanukkah story that you did not mention. The story is titled Latkes and Applsauce by Fran Manuskin. It is the story of a poor Russian family and the miracles that bring them Chanukah. I used to read it to my kindergarten class every year, then at the end of the story, the children help me to make latkes. I use my grandmother’s electric skillet, and we serve it with some of the applesauce that we made earlier in the fall (I took it home and froze it). I loved doing cooking projects that would enhance the student’s learning experience.

I love your selection of gifts. I can't advise you on the mega car. It would depend on how gentle he would play with it. You could explain to him how he should play with it regarding your fears. I used to buy the sand sets for my preschoolers to play with. If I am not mistaken, the last one may have been a Dino dig. I never got to use it because of COVID. I now am a grandma to a grand dog. Gifts for him are a little bit different lol 😆. I would rather be spoiling a child ! Oh well, what are you going to do? Not much but a few prayers! As a wonderful mom you truly get a 10! I love your enthusiasm for your family and family life. It's too rare nowadays.

My 4yr old grandson has one of those giant remote control trucks and it’s very durable even if it feels flimsy.

Love the book hanukkah bear (FKA The Chanukkah Guest) another great book is tree of the dancing goats by Patricia Polacco which tells the story of Jewish family helping their christian neighbors after a scarlet fever epidemic leaves them unable to celebrate Christmas it’s an amazing book

I love the toy swap with other Moms! Such a great idea. Love that your boys get books. I wish more parents books and literacy. My own niece is not getting read to and my nephew never was and he has no interest in reading now, despite my Mom and I giving books to them and reading to them . Sadly, I am no longer close enough to see them more then once or twice a year and I know they are growing up in front of a tv/computer/video game screen. And the worst part is both parents have university master degrees, one in education and is a teacher, and they both grew up as readers. They just always have a screen of some type on at all times now, so that is what the kids see. It’s easy, I know, but they deserve to know the joy of books and need that screen free time desperately

Just quickly popping on here to say don’t worry about the monster truck. They’re actually pretty durable. We have grandsons who have received them over the years and they’re still going strong 😊. Will watch the rest of the video now!

We have Grave Digger, El Torro Loco, & Megalodon monster trucks, and the kids love them. The light weight of the trucks makes it easy for the kids to carry. They race each other, & we haven't really had issues with them breaking. We have had them for 2 years now.

32 GB not bad..good for kids..Oh my goodness! Such great gifts, yes some toys don't last, books rule. Every family should do as they feel for their loved ones. Since I am from a mixed family I can attest that your cuties get at least as much for Hanukkah as kids get for Christmas...😊💙👍 Cutest pjs incidentally..😉

Hi Marion, I just wanted to add some thing that you might find very interesting. If your familiar with Crocs shoes they make jibbitz for them. I bought a Hanukkah one. It has a Jewish Star and it says Happy Hanukkah.

If your kids don’t have a kitchen I suggest you get one for them. I got my grandchildren one for each of their houses (two sets of grandkids) I got them the one from Costco’s catalog, they deliver but unfortunately don’t set up but I have to say my grandkids have played with their kitchens in a multitude of ways, PS my grandkids are three boys one girl

I love my Kindle what is it? I think I got it in 2020. 64 GB. I finally have Wi-Fi so I can play games and watch videos and stuff. I also have a 2019 Kindle e-reader. I bought a cover for it, and it comes with a stand. So convenient. I read at the laundromat, LOL. My birthday is NOV 30th, so lots of gifts. This year I'm asking for experience gifts. I want to go to Galaxycon convention here, and it's the weekend after my birthday, so perfect timing. We celebrate Christmas.

Hi Marian! Awesome video! I totally can relate to having zero willpower lol. This is going to be the first Christmas season that my 3.5 year old is going to experience where we’ve been able to celebrate (my husband was laid off multiple times during Covid). So I’ve picked up a few more things for my son and husband than I would usually do lol 😂 If you’re looking for ideas for your 2 year old, have you thought about anything from the Little People collaboration that they did with Hot Wheels? They have a couple of ramps that look pretty cool; I’ve been thinking about it for my son. I know the feeling about Hot Wheels taking over the house lol Those Hanukkah books look so cool! I’m definitely going to keep those in mind for my son to teach him about other religions’ holidays for school 🥰

Hi there -- so we bought my son the monster jam version of the big remote control hot wheel monster truck and the only caution I would say is it only ran for 10 minutes at a time and then had to be recharged. This greatly disappointed my son who wanted to play with it much longer. His truck was the big orange toro loco truck. Maybe check on how long the battery lasts in use.

Honey at 2 he won’t want anything more than what his brothers own! I have 10 Grandkids, age 3 to 21 and have always gotten them experiences versus stuff. We’ve gone to movies & dinner, concerts, plays, symphonies, ballets, art shows and even camping for a week ( boys separate then girls). They love to look at different events happening around their birthdays so they have some input in what they’d like to do. My 21 yr old Grandson who prefers rap also loves Yanni & Rufus Wainright because of me!

Adults enjoy experiences. Kids like toys. Playing with toys also helps their development when they are young. Plus they have something in common with their friends to discuss. Not the ballet.

I thought gifts were a Christian think in respect to St Nicolas who used to leave gifts for orphan children, I didn't think it's a Jewish thing. In ky country Jews do not give gifts on Hannukah.

Ugh...a very American household. Turning Chanukah into a quasi-Xmas with all the presents. Why not buy the kids something once a month (perhaps to mark each Rosh Chodesh) & not link Chanukah to materialism so much? I understand wanting to give your sweet kids lots of fun things, but the holiday is there to emphasize the real blessing of our connection with God. @@Donnamadonna2 I agree with you. I celebrate Christmas and my kids could enjoy their Santa Claus gifts and still celebrate and understand what the real meaning of Christmas is. So, for Jewish parents it shouldn't be any different. Hannukah is a time for celebration. I'm quite certain that her little guys can get one gift each evening and still celebrate the true meaning of the Holiday. She doesn't always buy 8 gifts for each boy. My two kids never got everything on their Christmas wish list.
