I know next to nothing about gymnastics but to me, it is one of the most amazing and fun sports to watch. I loved MyKayla's floor routine here and I don't think I'd ever seen any other gymnast do the mid-air turn she did at :44. What is that called? It looked so elegant.

This was great floor music and the passes were awesome. I wish another choreographer could have stepped in to replace some of the tacky dance moves (those jerky arm movements - not very pretty). But I love how she tackled those passes with such confidence and determination. She is fearless.

She did stick it, but it wasn't a double double layed out. It's clearly piked on the first salto and the second salto is piked/tucked (she is bent at the hips and her knees are bent). You don't bend your knees in a layout. I'm very happy she got the silver on vault though in Tokyo!

For such a superb gymnast it's a pity that her feet are so often not pointed. Especially on beam. I was an Irish 🇮🇪 champion a long time ago so I do know a little about the sport. Compare to a gymnast like Nastia. Aesthetics comprise a huge part of gymnastics

I was upset she and Jade weren’t on the The Team for the Tokyo Olympics, , and I was totally validated by the prelim scores, and that only she, Jade, Suni and Simone qualified for individual finals, and each brought home at least one individual medal. It lays to rest the fallacy of “Jade can’t be on The Team because it takes away from the total number of medals the US will bring home.” That is only true if there were two other gymnasts capable of knocking two of Simone, Suni, and Jade out of an event final. Might as well add Mykayla Skinner to the mix. Who would have been a lock to finish top 24 in the AA, and/or top 8 in an event final, AND beat three out Of Simone, Suni, Jade, and Mykayla to get past the two per country rule? I know the usual names and I don’t want to diss any beautiful hard-working gymnasts, so I’ll just say that every one of them would have been a greater liability in the team competition than Grace and Jordan. Beyond the inanity of leaving Mykayla and Jade off The Team, I won’t even discuss the bonkers decision to make them the individual specialists, when, IF you want to make them “specialists” instead of AAers (psst…their AA scores in prelims were the third and fourth highest among American gymnasts), their specialities are the same, vault and floor, because my head may very well explode. 🤯 ANYWAY, back to Mykayla, I’m SO glad she has the validation of an Olympic silver medal. Fierce, tenacious, snd a team player. ♥️
