RULES CORRECTION: When earning Fear cards, place them FACE DOWN on the Invader board. When it's time to resolve Fear effects, flip the whole pile face up and resolve them in the order you earned them.

There may need to be a correction: the author said that when, for example, a range of one is indicated, that means it must be an adjacent land. Range means within, so it may be the land on which one has presence (or shrine), or adjacent land. Same would apply if the range was 2: it could be the land on which one has presence, adjacent land to it, or two away from it. Please correct me if I am wrong, but the manual defines range as within.

Trung Vuong I think Spirit Island is considered difficult mainly because of all the asymmetric spirits with different abilities, innate powers and starting decks. The core gameplay really isn’t that hard to understand but figuring out the play style of the different spirits can be tricky. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Hi. Great and short rules explanation. I have just read rules and in this video has the most important things explained to start playing... But one question 14:02 "push" action.. On the card RANGE is 1. So should source land (you pushed invaders from ) be adjacent to your red marker? Thanks.

Majk Matrix Yes that is correct. That power card says you can push invaders at a range of 1 so it should be a land right next to my red marker. I think I just filmed a push example without knowing what card I was going to show for it. Good catch!

so. you can place presence tokens outside of your particular island, but only within the range you're allowed by the growth? so, if it was a 2, i could place a presence token 2 spaces from one of my previously placed tokens into a friend's territory?

Alex Martin Yes, correct. You’re only restricted to your particular island board during setup. After that it’s all one island and you can spread presence wherever (but you’re limited by range as you said).

Y Dryas Nope, injured Dahan still do full damage. You track their health just in case they take more damage before the end of the turn (when they recover to full health).

@3:56 Shouldn't card #1, "Uncanny Melting," be the first you pick up? So it would be on the top of the deck?

Connor Giesbrecht I leave the cards face up when using the Power Progression track so I can see what the next card does, that’s why Uncanny Melting is on top of the face up stack. If you keep the powers face down then you’d want to reverse the order so Uncanny Melting is the first face down card like you said.

Plumpy Thimble Yes you do! I was actually surprised because it’s not the type of game my wife usually likes (asymmetric powers, tons of cards with different abilities, area control). I thought I’d be playing it solo but she loved it! We lost A LOT at first but we always felt close to winning so we weren’t discouraged. It’s a great game, highly recommended.

I think he got it wrong at 14:10. He pushed a town in a non adjacent presence land since the range is 1. Can somebody confirm? Nice video though :)

Darkling Darling You are correct. I wanted to show pushing 2 towns to different spaces but didn’t think about which card actually let you do that. The card I shower had a range of 1 but I didn’t have a presence next to the land I was pushing towns in. Good catch!
