I remember vividly when I first heard the song. It was one afternoon on RTL radio. My mother was ironing and suddenly called me shouting "Hey ! Come ! I think it's Mylène on the radio with a new song !". My god what a shock it was ! The chorus didn't sound like anything Mylène has ever done so far and it really was at the very end when the radio speaker told "It was Mylène Farmer with her brand new song called "Désenchantée"" that I was totally sure it was her. ^^ I then spent hours and hours listening to this radio station hoping they played it again so I can tape it (The pre-internet world was quite epic when a new song from your favorite artist was released !!). I finally managed to record it and then it was on repeat for weeks. Literally. I never had such an emotion discovering a new Mylène single since then. It is something I will always cherish. ❤️

The short version ends with images of prisoners victorious over their executioners and regaining freedom. The complete version shows Mylène and her companions facing a snowy landscape, desolate seemingly infinite and offering them no future. They choose to continue their march towards this longed-for freedom, which now seems to rhyme with death. Hope made them fight and survive, but was there really hope?

Thanks for your reaction as always. I think this must be one of her best video. She took inspiration from Oliver Twist but pushed it a little bit beyond. It is so inspiring and so sad at the same time. Breaking free from opression to face the unknown... And this ending when you realise that your freedom leads you to something unexpected and yet chilling is perfect. Bref comme on dit, une tuerie cette video !!! Et oui moi aussi j'ai la larme a l'œil quand je la regarde 😂

Ce que j'aime avec la fin, c'est qu'elle peut avoir différentes significations. Tu as eu ce que tu voulais, tu t'es rebellé, tu as renversé le pouvoir, mais tu dois repartir de zero et parfois, tu te rends compte que ton ancienne situation (qui était catastrophique) avait parfois du bon (car là, ils se retrouvent absolument sans rien) et c'est souvent pour ça que tu tardes à te soulever face au pouvoir. Parce qu'après c'est toi le responsable, alors qu'avant tu étais le suiveur. Tu étais habitué au système, savais comment il fonctionnait et savais à quoi t'attendre. Ou alors, le vide, et ce paysage blanc enneigé fait référence à une page blanche. Ecrire un nouveau chapitre de ta vie, de l'histoire.

سلام اقا شاهین، ممنون از کانال خوبی که ایجاد کردید‌. میلن فارمر یک خواننده معمولی نیست، ایشون یک زن مسیحی معتقد هست و کتابهای انجیل ( Bible ) و مکاشفات یوهنا ( The Inspiration of Yuhannaa ) رو به طور کامل مطالعه کرده. میلن میدونه که چه اتفاقات وحشتناکی در انتظار بشریت هست‌، برای همین هم در کنسرت سال ۲۰۲۳ از مجسمه بزرگ شیطان در پشت سرش بر روی استیج استفاده کرده. من ایشون را از سال ۲۰۰۶ میشناسم 👸🇫🇷💖
