If Myles ripped off his helmet and chased him 40 yards down the field that would be one thing, but the Mason Rudolph knew his helmet was off and still pursued a man who was out of his vicinity who had a weapon. Should Garrett have swung the helmet? Absolutely not. But if you hop in the snake pit don’t be surprised when you’re bit. It’s just that simple

False. Obviously you never played organized football. Myles should've dropped the helmet on the ground after ripping it off mason head. There's no reason to swing that helmet at someone who doesn't have any protection on the his head. Myles hitting him on the head with a helmet doesn't justify anything mason did. Even high school kids know better then that.
@anthonysclafani3963
@anthonysclafani3963 4 жыл бұрын
Bad argument. I get what you mean, but you can't justify such an extreme overreaction by Garret. I agree Rudolph should've let it go, but Garret was absolutely not justified in attacking him with a helmet

@techniteazyceomaynardmorga5608 4 жыл бұрын
The snake pit analogy is not a good one for this. As a man your pride in a heated situation doesn't allow you to back down. In the fight you basically telling Mason to punk out. I guarantee if he had ran back to the sideline after his helmet got snatched some of y'all would've been saying: he should've stood up to him as a man. At the least if he knows he doesn't stand a chance he's just letting dude know I'm not gonna back down. First of all Garret outweighs him by about 100 pounds, secondly you got his helmet. What threat does he pose to you? That was a punk move to swing a helmet and you the bigger dude to begin with. A snake kills for survival. A human being / Full grown adult has the ability to reason and know when things have got to a point when I just need to use your brain and just chill out...

Louis Riddick is out of bounds on this one. Why are you not talking about Mason Rudolph was charging at him. Also, why isn’t Pouncey getting discussed for all the punches and kicks? This is again bias where they don’t talk about black on black crime while highlighting attacking Myles Garret.

So the groin kick is not a danger to Myles? He could have ruined his life also. He also could've sprained his neck when he was trying to take his helmet off! Is Mason going to accept his role in this situation? Will the NFL make him accept his role in the situation? And why didn't Mason have to explain himself about what he was trying to accomplish at the beginning of this matter. From what I've seen the analyst and media is making up excuses for Mason's actions, but holding Myles accountable for his actions. When I first seen this situation I figured Mason said something that he wasn't supposed to have said. And now it comes out! I hope the NFL doesn't be biased or one sided in this matter. Things of this magnitude could be the straw that breaks the camel's back!

Punishment aside, Miles Garrett needs help to realize he needs to go to some form of counseling. Whatever is in him that caused him to do this need reconciliation. Focus needs to be on this person's mental health rather than how harsh he should be punished (although a punishment is justified due to the nature of the act).

All I hear from this entire panel is reasons MASON RUDOLPH should not have done what he did, but MYLES GARRETT gets all of the blame. Rudolph started the helmet thing. Myles was turned around and was walking away, being pushed by a lineman, and Rudolph (now helmetless) comes back for some more. He got what he was asking for, and everyone comes to RUDOLPHS defense. Then Pouncey attacks Myles Garrett, unprovoked. Mason Rudolph and Pouncey should be fined for every dollar they've earned, and be suspended indefinitely. Myles Garrett should get their checks. Legal action needs to be taken against Mason Rudolph and Pouncey, as well as everyone on TV defaming Myles Garrett's name.

For Adam Schefter, as an ESPN journalist, to say, “Nothing will erase this. This is how we’re going to remember this man for the rest of his career.” is just mean spirited and not necessarily true. He already has to deal with so much backlash, emotional and financial, and you feel the desire to make it worse and perpetuate a narrative that this is how we should remember him by? That’s just about as mean spirited Miles Garrett was that night, except you’re supposed to be a levelheaded journalist. I’m disappointed in Schefter on this one for those reasons.

The helmut swing literally grazed Mason and wouldn't of seriously hurt anyone. 5. Mason wasnt hurt at all was he? So why talk of murder ? Brain damage? The media is over hyping the situation. They want to talk about the law. Cool. Let’s talk about the law. The rules state: when a player uses a helmet as a weapon it is a 15 yard penalty and the player gets DQ’d. Can’t have it both ways. Rudolph wanted the smoke. He got the smoke PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Don’t try to be a victim now. He initiated the whole thing. He tried to take Garret’s helmet off first.

The suspension levied against Myles Garrett was a slap on the wrist. A stronger message would have been sent by banning him from the league permanently. He could have murdered that kid or seriously injured him. The lawsuits would have been off the charts. In a bar fight, had a regular joe got upset with someone, snapped and clocked someone on the head with a helmet - even if no injury occurred - he would be looking at assault with a deadly weapon. That's 10 to 20 years in the big house.

Well the Browns were blitzing the last 3 plays so why not? The counter to the blitz is the screen. The better question is why were the Browns running blitzes up 2 scores with 10 seconds left? Most teams, you know, run man cover 2 when defending a lead or just 3 deep zone.

It would be considered self-defense, at worst aggravated assault. It if self-defense was the result he could sue for damages due to his suspension and loss of money. Plus they’d have to investigate the catalyst of the situation. Mason Rudolph responded they way he did for a reason. He’s not saying much because he knows he’s at fault, probably more than we know.
