@@kellinwinslow1988 Yes, because everything in a game should just be handed to you outright without having to actively earn them through learning the game or rewarding people who choose to put in the time. Just put it on the easiest difficulty and get all the rewards because that feels just as good as actually accomplishing something you thought you couldn't.

@@kellinwinslow1988 The game kicked my ass big time in the beginning but I kept trying and eventually beat the game on hard nearly on very hard. Yes the game is very hard and has no empathy for beginners or first time players but it does teach the player what to do and the difficulty is fair except in like 2 bosses. Ninja Gaiden was one of the first action games I properly played and it really grew on me, the game is extremely rewarding.

Donkey Kong 64 was perhaps the best bonus for both Nintendo and RARE history. Nintendo with Donkey Kong arcade from 1981 and RARE with Jetpack from 1983 the Spectrum ZX version. Both give the player an idea of how both Nintendo and RARE started.
@PIKMINROCK1
@PIKMINROCK1 4 жыл бұрын
They did forget to mention that Rare snuck it in as Nintendo didn't legally own the code to original. Back then, Nintendo outsourced their arcade code but after legal disputes after the porting of Donkey Kong to Atari, they made sure own the code too. Nintendo did eventually hash it out for the Arcade Archives release last year

One such recent example I can definitely recall would be Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus following up on Wolfenstein: The New Order's Nightmare Level Easter Egg (Sleep in a bed, then play in a classic Wolfenstein 3D level with the new character models & physics)and the subsequent Wolfenstein: The Old Blood's multiple Nightmare Level secrets by including the entirety of Wolfenstein 3D in an arcade cabinet within the Evas Hammer bar/lounge. I didn't really give the game that much of a try, but it looked like every episode was within it and seemed to work well enough, but I can't remember if there was a full-screen mode available instead of only a point-of-view on the arcade screen. No clue if Wolfenstein: Youngblood did anything similar though.

I know most players ignored the VGA cable for the Xbox 360 but the fact that it already has 1080p as the max resolution output before the launch of 360 Elite debuting it's HDMI out can't be ignored too. I say this because high resolution CRT monitors where much cheaper than LCDs at that time and I used mine with the VGA cable which I still have both, the monitor and cable, a CRT Samsung SyncMaster 1100df. This monitor is 4:3 but it supports 1080p and was how I played my launch Xbox 360 until the infamous RRD had take it. I still have my copy of Quake 2 360.

I was astonished by a couple: animal crossing, splatterhouse (containing 1-3), the psp castlevania (w/ both SOTN & RoB). But I gotta say the one that blew my mind was a collection with unlockable games, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Yes, it's a collection. Tho, it req you to play and unlock, and the games included are some real gems, which my qualify itself to the criteria of this ep. Regardless, to this day it has to be the best retro collection imo.

When are you guys gonna get around to uploading a video on how to get the best picture out of the Wii?
@justanotheryoutubechannel
@justanotheryoutubechannel 4 жыл бұрын
Oblivionyx Don’t be silly. That may be the easiest method, but it’s by far not the best. The Wii U’s 480p to 1080p scaling is alright at best. The best method is 480p video to a PVM using Wii Component Cables, but that’s expensive and space consuming. Just plugging those same component cables into a modern flatscreen is a good option, but not perfect. Using an OSSC to get 960p video is also a good option, since it would be sharper than 480p on a modern flatscreen, however that may not always be a good thing. I’m using 576i video over RGB SCART to my Trinitron CRT, which works great, but has interlaced flicker since it is not progressive, as my CRT cannot handle that. The Wii U is far better than Wii composite, and is as good as 576i/480i RGB output, when used on a modern flatscreen. Using 480p from component cables will sometimes appear better on a flatscreen than Wii U upscaling.

Yeah the Wii U also can't output 240p through HDMI if you're interested in any Virtual Console games. The _best_ output would be a WiiDual, which is a digital-to-digital HDMI mod. The caveat to that though is that it can only be installed into a "Family Edition" Wii, and nearly all of those removed the Gamecube support. The Family Edition also has a slightly crisper component output out of the box too, anyway.

The next one is probably is't going to be for a while, not until someone makes a good OG Xbox solution and maybe they'll do that next. Though my bet is that they're already working on a massive Dreamcast episode

I remember Jetpack!!! Also I can remember a 1993 game called "Day of the tentacle" which in one room in the game, you could access a computer that you could play the whole prequel called "Maniac Mansion" and that was epic back then! You could run the game outside of the game you are meant to play it from by renaming one file to .exe and it worked! lol

At both the beginning and end of the video, you teased Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, but didn't talk about it. As a huge fan of the Prince of Persia series, I need to fill in the gap. While the original console versions including the original Prince of Persia is nothing to write home about (that game is available on everything), the Xbox version specifically included Prince of Persia 2. This is notable because Prince of Persia 2 has been ported far less, the Xbox version is only the second time it's ever hit consoles, and the first (and only) time a good version of the game was available on consoles. And if that sounds good, Sands of Time is backwards compatible on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I hear the 360 version doesn't work with the older games, but I can't find any evidence on its functionality on the Xbox One.

[Try4ce] Yeah, sorry, that was one we were sad to cut out, but we just didn't have time to make it happen. I have two beat files on my GameCube memory card, and am not sure why PoP original is grayed out in my menu. I've definitely played it there before. But like you say, the Xbox version is the one to show really, which I own, but don't have any files in. I just didn't have time to make it happen.

It’s amezing how they were able to port or emulate those classic games as bonus games in their main games. EDIT i wish you mentioned superwrecking crew on the snes wich also contained a ported nes version of wrecking crew.

Really interesting stuff guys, I do love games that have games to play whilst loading....really passes the time, doesn’t really count for your show but always remember invade-a-load on the C64 - a space invaders clone which is probably my favourite space invaders game of all time! Fast and great music preferred that to any of the games I was actually loading😂

Pong with Mortal Kombat sound effects in the arcade version of Mortal Kombat II. I know it doesn't count, as it's modified, but it's worth noting, especially as you have to play 250 multiplayer games. They refer to it as "A battle from your past", and one you win, you are thrown straight back to Mortal Kombat II. Ironically, Mortal Kombat II is unlockable in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks.

Fun Fact: in Pac Man 2: The New Adventure. You can unlock a remake of both arcade versions of Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man by putting PCMNDPW for the original pacman and MSPCMND for ms. Pacman. And it works on both versions of the game (Genesis and Super Nintendo)

Love this subject. Definitely one I'd like to see a follow up of. One I remember is Street Fighter on Commodore 64 in the UK had its own unique port that was so bad they chucked the US version on the other side of the tape. Pretty sure the packaging didn't even mention it.

If you pause at the right moment at 37:15, the turtle's armbands, and bandanna disappear... that's because the background is tilebased, while the sprite layer is more quick-changing on the fly-contextually for which turtle is being played.
