if i change photo-names or metadata in the software, does that change also apply to the actual file? or does it just live in the program?

The file names will be changed on the actual file - so if you look in Explorer or Finder at that file you will see the new name

If you change the file name it stays with the photo and the change can be seen immediately in Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder. As for adding keywords it is added to the file using an xmp file which means if you were to move the files into another software that can read xmp files, it would stay with the file.

@@HOPEOrganizingOmaha you can save metadata to file within Mylio to bake the keywords into certain file types, such as jpgs. This works with jpgs but not with RAW photos or videos, which require the xmp.

What if you don’t want to have to have duplicates automatically deleted ?

It does not automatically delete your duplicates! (I know because I tried out some different scenarios with my own photos and noticed I had some duplicates)

You can choose to 1) do nothing, 2) delete photos you mark for deletion, or 3) move them to another location of your choosing.
