I’ve seen vanilla extract made from alcohol.. vodka or rum. I was wondering what non-alcoholic substitute would be used. You’ve got a wonderful channel here, some amazing recipes. Vanila essence is made from alcoholic drinks?? That's so surprising

@@ilmarehman6851 yes it kills bacteria and keeps the solution sterile, like in hand sanitiser. But it dissipates upon exposure to air and very low temperature (above body heat is sufficient). You can remove any alcohol by putting it in a bowl and leave it in the open for 2 days, or expose to high heat. After about 5-7 days the sugars convert to acid and you have vinegar! So imagine in cooking and baking, it evaporates and disappears in under 5 minutes. Hope this helps

Nice concept...I was only aware of using vodka or alcohol to make extracts,as we can not use alcohol in our home due to religious constraints this seemed like a really great idea..but I do want to know how is the flavouring compared to the extracts made using alcohol
