Still a great vid after 4 years. I can’t help but wonder if a two hook rig might have foiled that second sneaky bugger! I run the circle at the front snelled down to a small size Big Gun normal J hook at the back.

Great vid as always try snelling the circle hook or a loop knot it allows the hook to roll alot better and hook up
@mylurebox4 жыл бұрын
Thanks James! Definitely gotta make some changes and work em out ;)
@hanna2nv4 жыл бұрын
@@mylurebox i always snell my circles if tying up new rigs but if im in a rush a quick loop knot same as u use for lures works a treat to most of the time can just leave the rod in a holder and drag set snd the fish will hook itself use the demons alot for everything from bass to bream flatty and jew and kings
@thor_68864 жыл бұрын
@@mylurebox As James has said, I was taught to have the bail arm closed with circle hooks, rather than letting fish run on baitrunner or freespool like you were doing. With a flexible rod tip that gentle pull should set the circle hook (roll it into the fish's mouth).

Hi, Great vid... I have caught some small Jacks on dead bait infrequently, but want to get into livies...If you were using a much smaller live bait (Biddy, Herring, Poddy), do you use a sinker (if so, where), to get the bait to the bottom, and do you still hook through upper jaw....thanks...

Cracking Jack mate, good to see the old school method's breaking the drought for you and what a fish 👍. I was always partial to using Sprats & Poddy Mullet as live bait, although Sprats tend to lose their scales easily and will die fairly quickly if you don't change the water or scoop the scales out of your live bank tank.
@mylurebox4 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. I still love a livey session esp. at night eh. That stillness when everyone is asleep and you’re frothing is pretty cool eh.

@@mylurebox The best time to fish by far, to think I use to work half a day on a Saturday, go home get the boat ready, drive to Caloundra or Pin and fish all night, weight in at 7.00 am then drive back to Brisbane, clean the boat and fish... was just crazy but I loved it. Johnny any chance you could measure the base of your Gravity Seat on your Kayak for me, I just want to see if I could get one into a Moken. Cheers and thanks in advance.

@@mylurebox Forgot to mention I just bought a couple of Baitcaster set-ups, a Diawa TD Sol SV TW 100H teamed up on a Tarantula Edge 671M and a Curado DC 150HG on a Diawa Commander 641HFB, both seem nicely balanced and can't wait to try them out. I was also in a little fishing shop the other day and he was telling me how they sold out of a certain colour or style of lure that had been sitting on their shelves for 6 months within hours of you posting a vid. on that lure. Just goes to show the following you have Mate and I hope some of these shops or more so lure manufacturers start sending you some lures to preview... it's only fair that they support you.
