You inspired me Vince ! Had one similar Philips food processor lying around for ages thinking is was the motor. In the end a piece of plastic was broken off of the top part and that's why the microswitch was not being pressed in anymore. Filled that hole up with a piece of plastic and it works again ! RESULT 🎉! Smoothies are back ! 😀

NIce Job VInce 👍 I've got a very similar unit myself but it seems the plastic on the blending jugs on these is very brittle. I had only used the blending jug 2 or 3 times and the third time with hot liquid (was making soup) this caused the bottom of the blending jug to crack around where the shaft goes into it. I contacted Ninja and they said the unit was just out of warrant, but I could buy a new jug. Even though on their site there are quite a number of people with the exact same issue so it is a known problem. There are people on the 2nd or 3rd jug! so I'd not recommend this product. It even has a 1 star review on the company's site😂

Well done, another two saved from landfill. One way to remember LED connections is cup cathode (negative), anvil anode (positive), though if you are into electron flow theory and / or have some high brightness LEDs then everything is topsy-turvy. You can also use a CR2032 battery to test LEDs, rather than a DVM which may output a higher voltage.

I recently fixed a Nespresso coffee maker, basically, it was scaled up. I used lemon juice for descaling. After reassembling, I also noticed little bits of black plastic on my bench and floor. Nonetheless, it works, the original owner couldn't wait for me to fix and bought a new one. I noticed that my mother still has her Kenwood MagiMix from 40 something years ago, it still works, not like the modern junk we see here, Ninja. The name should be enough to put someone off of buying it, should be renamed Binned-Ya as the bin is where it belongs.

If your house has RCD protecion you shouldn't need an RCD protected extension lead.
@purpleviolin9 ай бұрын
It is better to protect a load you are interacting with so the cable trips before turning off the whole building. Long Extension leads sold in the UK are designed for using in the garden with potentially dodgy equipment so it and user gets protected. In some cases it feels over engineered but has legitimate design decisions behind it: the assumption that you don't know what someone will connect using it.
@RandyDarkshade29 ай бұрын
@@purpleviolinBoth RCD's will trip at the same time, ask me how I know.The RCD on the extension makes noi difference in a house proteced by RCDs or RCBOs
@purpleviolin9 ай бұрын
@@RandyDarkshade2 I Have wondered about that aspect RCD Vs RCD in a race. However doesn't negate the designed in aspect of protection. Having seen how some users use/misuse mains power cables etc in schools and pop up venues etc, I would definitely state that RCB on plug of a long extension lead (over 10m) should absolutely be there. Redundancy is better than no protection when lives are at risk.

Am I the only who was surprised how old the construction of these looked? I'm not sure if it's seeing wires, rather than ribbon cables or the colour of the circuit board. The second board with faulty LEDs looked lke it was taken from a 1980s VCR.
@RommudohDev9 ай бұрын
In German, there's a easy to remember memo for how to connect LEDs: Kelch, Kerbe, Kurzes Bein = Kathode / Kleinere Spannung. Everything starts with K. literal translation: Cup, notch, short leg = cathode / lower voltage. it's about the visible cup inside the LED, the notch on the circular body, and the shorter leg. obviously the leg length can't be used as indicator after the legs are shortened.
@Holycurative96109 ай бұрын
Why do they bother with security torx bits, like the Xbox controller. Is it so you can't get inside items to repair them? I think so.. The price of things like the Nutri thingy is so expensive that you can't buy new every time a wire comes off although it seems companies expect you to do just that. I'm more concerned about the cost than I am in saving the planet and I refuse to buy new every time an item has a problem, we need more people fixing their stuff and we need companies to encourage people to fix their items.

While I'm on the subject of repair.... My og Xbox one power brick goes wrong and won't pump out enough voltage to fire up the Xbox so after half an hour with a Dremmel I finally get inside it and the whole item is potted. How on earth can I repair this?? Companies deliberately withhold schematics, use security screws, pot items in resin, take the numbers off of chips and make repair as hard as possible. The only way to stop this is to vote with your wallet and if companies make it impossible to repair an item then don't buy it!!

Ninjas a seriously good brand in my opinion, I've had airfryers from tefal, Delonghi and another I can't remember. All those took about 30 min to do frozen chips yet the Ninja I have now somehow cooks them better in I'd say 10 to 15 min depending on thickness. It probably does act as a deterrent for people who don’t do regular repairs. If they just used a Phillips screw then more people would give it a ago and try to fix it. Waiting the extra time for the correct screwdriver to arrive will put people off, plus then the extra albeit small added cost. If you need to repair something it’s because it’s faulty and so the quickest way to get their broken device working again is just to buy another one! Obviously this depends on the person and cost of the product.

They are supposed to be different appliances. A food processor is supposed to have a more powerful motor and a wider container, and can be used for things like kneading bread dough and slicing vegetables. Can you imagine slicing 10 lb of russet potatoes into paper-thin slices with a blender?!? Unfortunately manufacturers are wrongly leading young people to think they're the same thing. I guess misinformation is just fine in the service of stealing money out of people's pockets.

@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co9 ай бұрын
They probably save money on insurance by using security screws, because it stops idiots who don't know what they're doing from opening devices, shocking themselves, and suing. If using them keeps prices down I'm all for it. BTW they're called security screws because they were invented to prevent yahoos from tampering with aircraft. The standard Torx was invented to prevent cam out by aircraft mechanics servicing light aircraft; the company that first produced them owned Cessna and Lycoming.
