I am so glad I got to see Paul Last year..... Very impressed! Paul was coming out on stage, grabbed his guitar then looked at us in the front and said "ok, let's rock", Too Cool... it was like being in a private party with Paul Weller...Too Cool

I think there is a melancholic poetry to some of Paul Weller's songs such as this song and That's Entertainment in particular.

There where times when it was real music not as today, Paul Weller is one of the best sing/songwriter in my opinion, just litsten to all The Jam songs and Style Council 😉
@jacobr56274 жыл бұрын
The Style Council had a few good songs like "My Ever Changing Moods" (The acoustic version), "Long Hot Summer" & "You're The Best Thing" but The Jam was far better.

The Style Council were awful. Terrible career choice.

The Jam helped me get off my arse. I was 16 in 1982, saw the jam live. Unemployed in Merseyside, we all went darn south n done ok

One of the greatest songs of that era- when " punk" went pop, but the lyrics in this song still ring true. ,

He sang " to either cut down on gear or the kid's new beer " when it should have been " to either cut down on beer or the kid's new gear ? !! And this is the man that wrote the song !

Think it was deliberate - parents now on “the gear”, and kids drinking beer

Great song from a great songwriter from a great band. My only gripe, being a diehard jam fan , is this is their most commercial song they ever did, and people of a certain age just associate with billy elliott. I wonder what weller makes of that.

Love how Paul Weller won't get The Jam back togeather spouting nonsense about musically he doesn't go back and blah blah .. Then anytime he does a concert he plays The Jam songs ( And there the ones that get biggest cheers)

Is it me, or is it really annoying when Jools Holland 'honky-tonks' all these British classics. But then I guess, it was 2001. Can''t imagine Weller doing this now.
