RTA player here - won't be derusting, but will give further improvement tips for Tom Clarke-Hill's Macho Simulator (dunno if/how applicable for GC-US compared to PC-EU); could amount to make-or-break for sub-25, so: 0. Is the right stick really that bloody limiting compared to mouse? Getting shots to line-up may be tough (if I understood the submission entry well), but would help straighening-out routing ALOT (as an obvious example, going to the lift in 2-2 without curving as much, and immediately facing the fire-escape stairs before going up them in 2-3 - in contrast, 5-3 is chef's kiss) 1. One or two standing cover spots (for opening doors) could still be faster than crouching ones (2-2 double-doors mayhaps) 2. Forward-rolling (instead of just speeding stairs' descent) right before starting to climb (any/all) stairs preserves the forward-running speed for the roll's duration - (example) one could almost half the time on the very-first stairs at the start of 2-3 3. Even bigger benefit of forward-rolling; it LOCKS the direction of the roll (for its duration, of course) regardless of where the player's looking (any other rolling DOES NOT, and moving the camera whilst said rolls can disorient anyone, so be careful) - 2-2 example again; helps facing away from the lift after hitting the trigger that blows the door open, so that one can just snap back to forward-running to said door (also easing fire-escape stairs routing in 2-3) 4. Methinks getting the very-first disarmed Uzi (rather than later) in 2-1 is lotta faster 5. Also, upon exiting 2-1; the grenade trick is a total time-waster - wait out the normal fade; OR better yet, Punkski's bullet interrupts said fade with the pain screen-effect, shortening level-end time even further 6. Overall try to HOLD the forward shortest route (no need to be anywhere close to precise as that latest Prince of Persia TAS, just keep it as moderately tight as possible), instead of veering ever-so-slightly (2-3 mid irks me the most - why the seagulls m8) to score some more punks (yet again 2-1, before the point above, irks me the second most - get said punks from farther away, before they even succeed spreading out, is what I'd do) 7. My superstition (that you can prove me wrong on) is forward-roll seems faster overall than forward-run (long stretch of sidewalk on 2-1 as an example) 8. 2-3 boss - the closer the chopper is to the sunny (right-hand) side of the arena, the faster said chopper drops down; aka HUGE time save from ingame cutscene's shorter length 9. In 3-1, methinks going through the small room instead of around it (right before the control room) is a time save too 10. I believe your judgement if that route in 3-2 is genuinely faster, than either the other roundabout or through the lab 11. Same for the near-end of 4-2 lol 12. Maybe begin moving past the shark and towards the large gate during finishing off that watch tower in 5-1? 13. :) 14. If you EVER figure out howto glitch-exit the locked cover during 5-2 and 5-3 bosses and freely roam those arenas (something I never was able to execute even remotely consistently since me early casual playthroughs), that'd be a HUGE time save too (also moar possible entertainment points there) 15. Another superstition - the grenades at the very start of 5-3 do seem to make a tiny speed boost with 5-3 boss Glad this stinker has a TAS as noice as it is now - wouldn't blame you if not wanting to revisit/improve on it (with/out utilizing any/all of the TED talk tips above - no need for credit or whatever; just wanted all this stuck insight outta my mind) ENJOY!!! Damn that's a whole lot of words. Also this movie just got published up on TASVideos too. Yeah the aiming is really that bad on console. Not too worried about rolling around because I have TAS aim but that's good to know about saving speed on stairs. I know the grenade bit wasted time I just thought it was fun. Afaik, rolling is NOT any faster than running when on flat ground. And no I don't think I'll be improving on this TAS lol. Thanks a bunch for watching! Your RTA actually helped me with some routing.
